"The walkway past five of the units in our condo complex had been tilted and broken by a neighbor's tree roots. On top of that, the original construction had an awkward step-up-step-down landing in front of each doorway, making it impassible to wheelchairs or strollers. MB Paving's prices were competitive with a couple other bids we got, but they were set apart by the professionalism of the owner Jose. He was courteous, and clearly understood the nature of the job and the best way to solve for it. We worked together on a plan to create a rolling walkway that rose to each doorway without covering the foundation vents. He consulted me on every decision from color & finish to drainage. The whole job took 3 or 4 days, including the day to dry, and we are so happy with the result. It looks infinitely better, and is so much easier and safer to navigate. I would absolutely hire them again."

"<p> We didn't satisfy his initial service (which I believe was just an accident nothing to do with their quality of service), and contact them again and receive immediate positive response to come back to do the service again.  FIVE STAR service !!! Highly recommended. Reasonable price for the additional sq ft.  We have hired multiple people for different types of service needs for the new house that we just recently move in.  None of them can top Concrete & marble Transformerz's service. </p> <br />"

"The crew of three worked about five days all told. Arrived early  and on time, worked steadily and quietly all five days. Took careful pains to keep the site clean and after finishing, even vacuumed the soil and plantings to remove chips and dust. The job was finished on time and with no noise or racket, even though a masonry wall was being demolished. The whole crew was cheerful and polite throughout. <br /> It could not have been done better, and the results were exactly as described in the detailed contract. Hard to imagine a better job. the only possible criticism was that Thomas is a little pricey, but everything was done according to the contracts and on time."

"Edwin Monroe is a very courteous and polite person.  He was always prompt and if he was running late, would always call ahead to let me know.  My wife and I were remodeling our house.  We needed to demolition one of our existing rooms to build two new bedrooms.  Although Edwin doesn't do demo work, he proved us with Fred's Hauling who did an excellent job.  Edwin, working with my general contractor, then proceeded to form the foundation area.  It took alot of work:  digging and then building the forms.  Edwin's crew consisted of hard-working men who worked in upper 90's to 100 degree temps.  They almost always left a clean work site at the end of day.  (I dare anyone to find a contractor and his crew who is 100% clean!)  We didn't  pass our first LADBS inspection.  Edwin and my GC misread the prescriptives (building codes) provided by the LADBS.  The foundation needed to be dug out another 8"!  This after the forms had already been built!  It added another 3 days worth of work and of course the original estimate cost went up.  I wasn't happy.  However, Edwin's crew kept working.  In the end, the Building Inspector came out and approved the work.  The concrete was then poured and the foundation looks beautiful.  As a side job, Edwin poured a concrete pad to my already existing patio.  This was a small job in comparison to the foundation work.  I had colored concrete that I told Edwin to try and match as best he could. We both decided on a color.  Edwin's crew built a form and poured colored concrete the same day our foundation was being done.  This job came out beautifully, too!  I was nervous about the new concrete color matching our six year old concrete, but it looks fantastic.  Overall, I'm very happy with Edwin's company.  Despite the mistakes made with the codes and not getting passed initially on our inspection, Edwin tried to be as fair as he could when he had to raise the price of the first estimate.  He is a fair and decent man with an extremely hard working crew.  I wholeheartedly recommend his company. <br />"

FAQs for concrete finishing, overlays & coloring application projects in Santa Paula, CA

With proper care, a stained concrete floor easily lasts 20 years or more. Reapply sealer every two to four years to protect against moisture, scratches, and daily wear. Routine sweeping, occasional damp mopping, and prompt repairs keep the surface looking sharp and protect the slab underneath, preserving both function and resale value.

Stained concrete can crack if the slab is exposed to extreme moisture changes, heavy impacts, or settling. Small hairline cracks are mainly cosmetic, but deeper fractures can affect the finish. Inspect the floor regularly, address moisture issues quickly, and hire a pro for timely repairs. Staying on top of maintenance prevents minor flaws from developing into larger, more costly problems.

The longevity of a concrete stain depends on the product you choose. Acid-based options chemically bond with the slab and are essentially permanent. Water-based stains sit on the surface and can be lightened, darkened, or covered with a new color at a later time. Select the stain type that aligns with your long-term design plans and your willingness to reapply the stain in the future.

You can update the color by cleaning the slab, lightly etching it, and applying a new layer of stain. Re-staining bonds to the concrete and resists peeling far better than paint. For a dramatic shift—such as moving from a dark acid stain to a lighter tone—you may need to grind the surface first. A flooring pro can advise on the best approach for your specific floor.

Stained concrete combines longevity with a modern, custom look. The finish resists heavy foot traffic, moisture, and everyday wear, so upkeep is minimal—routine sweeping and an occasional damp mop are usually enough. Because the color is inside the concrete, it won’t peel or flake like paint. Homebuyers also appreciate its sleek aesthetic and low maintenance, which can add a slight boost to your property's resale value.
