Joe recommended going with a wireless switch for the basement lights to avoid having to run a long cable to the bulkhead doorway - that was a better idea than what I had originally thought. In order to find a pilot light switch for our attic (one that glows red when the lights are on - because you don't see the lights if you accidentally leave them on), he had to go to two different electrical supply stores.
