"My experience with Advanced Flooring was fantastic from start to finish. They called me right away and gave me specific information about the project. Who to talk to, where to call directly to set things up. The office was helpful with guiding me to a good product. Measurements were made quickly and accurately, Adam was very professional coming into my home to do the measurements. Eric was my contact for selection and scheduling. He was very knowledgable about the products and helped in making my final decisions. I changed my plan a couple of times and he was great getting the changes measured and calculated. Most importantly the installation team was timely, detailed in getting everything just right. Communication was excellent. They work very hard! The final result I couldn't be more pleased. I wish I could share pictures! The vinyl flooring with baseboard looks high-quality and gorgeous. The carpeting I had installed also looks beautiful. The team cleaned up after the work and left me with a beautiful home. Thanks again to all: Eric, Nick, Adam, Carlos, and all whose name I didn't get. I will use Angi's again to find a company like Advanced Flooring!!"

"The original estimator and sales person were excellent and knowledgeable in explaining about the different types of hardwood and installation methods and challenges. But the scheduling of installation was delayed by more than 2 weeks at the last minute and they were not very flexible with rescheduling and the whole delivery and scheduling process was a bit inefficient and a little less customer friendly compared to the other departments. But the installation personnel at the end did a good job installing the hardwood floors and cleaning up after and completed the work within the time period they proposed. The $500 off Angies List coupon and the 0% interest payment terms were the key reasons that kept me motivated to stay with them during all the delays, even though it costed me some extra money with other items and services with my new home and delayed my move in by more than 2 weeks."

"One of the owners came to the house and provided an accurate estimate. He helped me to select a carpet of good quality that was reasonably priced. He didn't try to steer me to the most expensive carpet. The installer left the house very clean and the work is flawless. The carpet looks even better than I had hoped. A few days after the installation was complete, the owner called to make sure that I was satisfied. I would recommend them and use them again. <br />"

"It is important to work with Morris Losice. Our first attempt, with another member of the staff, was a bit unpleasant. We placed an order and never heard from him again. When we complained, Morris Losice took over, and everything was handled promptly and professionally. He came to our house at an arranged tome, measured the area, and took time to discuss our concerns. He agreed with the choice of our earlier order and immediately ordered it from the factory. We were asked to remove small items before installation, but the installer removed all the big pieces. His work was meticulous. Both Morris and the installer were friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable."

"Vic explained how the installation would happen, answering any questions I had to my satisfaction. The install occurred over a two day period, when I was still out of town. When I arrived to move in, I was very happy to see how great everything looked! This company does top quality work at a very fair price. I would definitely use them again!"

"It went extremely well. The timely and professional job of installing vinyl planking in my basement. We are very pleased with the results. The team of two removed the old carpet and disposed of it. They moved the furniture in order to install the flooring. They did exactly what the said they would do. This is a family owned and operated business. I would not hesitate to recommend their service to anyone. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Schenectady, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
