" We engaged My Baker after our basement flooded a few years ago. They did very good work on a project despite it being during the pandemic. Their workers were respectful and the project was finished on budget at quality standards we were thrilled with. "

"We had a great experience working with NRC Homes on a significant remodel as we prepared to move into our new home. They were highly organized, very communicative, and a pleasure to work with. Despite a tight timeline and several changes along the way (Due to changes from us), they delivered everything on time and were incredibly patient and flexible. We’re so grateful for their professionalism and would absolutely recommend them!"

"Justin Gibbons owner of Carpenters Unlimited LLC brought an illegal employee to work on our project alone (claims no employees with WA L&I). When mistakes were made, Justin GIbbons blamed the employee, attempted to fix the errors, but did not succeed in fixing the errors. Based on the work Justin Gibbons and his company Carpenters Unlimited LLC provided, we would not recommend Justin Gibbons and his company Carpenters Unlimited LLC to family or friends or anyone else. The work Justin Gibbons and his company Carpenters Unlimited LLC provided was subpar, completed late, required many follow ups from us to get fixed, and resulted in damages. We are pursing a Small Claims case against Justin Gibbons. See photos for evidence."

"Since I now need to use a wheelchair, several doorways in my home needed to be widened. Two exterior doors had to be replaced, one of which also had to be changed to open out rather than opening in. I hired Johnson Custom Builders and was absolutely delighted with their work. They were always professional. They laid or hung plastic sheeting to contain the dust they created, then at the end of the day they ran the vacuum and even mopped the floor! They were respectful of me and my home. Their work was excellent. One of the things I most appreciated was Ryan Johnson's communication with me before, during, and at the conclusion of the project. He listened to what I needed and then figured out how to make it happen. I recommend Johnson Custom Builders highly!"

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in Seattle, WA

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
