Small jobs welcome

I have spent the last four years remodeling and constructing new buildings, working for other companies such as Hausmann Construction and Samsung Construction—including on the renovation of the football stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have carried out renovations of churches and schools, as well as basements, garages, bathrooms, and kitchens. Now, I have established my own company, and I am ready to apply all my expertise to grow my business.

"The work went awesome. Frank was always quick to respond to phone calls and requests. He went out of his way to get us moved up in the schedule and even did weekend work to get this one completed in a timely manner. They took great care in setting up and getting all areas well covered and protected from dust. The work was completed in a quick manner and was extremely high quality. Would recommend to anyone."

"Great company to work with! I have a daylight walkout basement and wanted a patio cover installed over the entryway. Ken came out and talked to me about my options, and had great suggestions. The company did a great job of communicating with me about when the job would start, how long it would take, etc. I am extremely happy with the results. The entryway is beautiful, and looks like it's part of the house. Several neighbors didn't even realize we had added a cover to the entryway - it looks that much like the house! Very happy with the quality of the work done."

"We were very happy with the results. The work really transformed the appearance of our home interior. Dates for work were agreed upon and kept. Phone calls were always returned promptly. This company will probably not be the cheapest, but it will be one of the best groups with which to work. They will help with ideas and will deliver great work with a minimum of hassle."

"<p>This is a difficult review for me. So let me explain. First it was family members that recommended Willet to us as we had bought an older home that needed some improvements in the kitchen and adding crown molding in the dining and living rooms and the bedroom.</p> <p>The PLUSES. Our designer Deb Brown was frankly....AMAZING! My wife and I told her what we wanted in terms of improvements and not too long after we approved her design drawings and the quote for service. Deb was very accomadating as over time we asked for changes. She never hesitated to listen to our views and always made us feel like we were in charge. She was prompt answering emails and submitting quality yet price friendly options to fit our budget.</p> <p> The kitchen remodel went off without issue and the woodworking guys were outstanding. I felt they were working like they were on their own homes! You can't beat that. They were like Magicians as they problem-solved issues to achieve the perfect solution.</p> <p>My dissatisfaction concerns the point where the crown molding was going in the rooms. Now I was present when the designer and the project foreman met us and they made exacting measurements of the exact lengths of the molding needed plus the overall linear footage needed. They checked and double-checked and we felt confident that what was needed was going to be ordered.</p> <p>That is where the problem started. It is quite clear at the time this happened they lacked the quality assurance person or process in place to ensure what is ordered is indeed what they get. So not only was the molding that was delivered not in the correct lengths nor was the molding consistently stained in the correct color. Some molding was light and dark in the same color.</p> <p>So the installers assume that what they get delivered to our house is what they have to install. Well they start to install the molding and they start to splice pieces together thinking that is what they were suppose to do. But when they do that they find that the wood is stained different shades (light-dark) so that the spliced segments don't match. That's when I'm told something is wrong.</p> <p>When I call the foreman he tells me he can't check it out until later in the day. I finally tell the installers to stand down and stop where they are. Now the foreman does come by about a hour after calling him and realizes that there is an indeed a problem. What bothered me is that he acknowledges the problems of improper lengths and poor staining of the crown molding. But then he asks me if I can and quot;live with itand quot;! That was easy...I said no.</p> <p>So they then took down all the molding and re-ordered and then installed the correct lengths and stain. So that was done. </p> <p>Now after that mishap...the overall remodeling project turned out FANTASTIC. That's my dilemma. </p> <p>Deb Brown our designer is SECOND to NONE! She took our vision and made it a REALITY! A+</p> <p>The hired construction guys that work for Willet...A+. Amazing problem solvers that make you feel they are working for you!</p> <p>Project foreman overseeing the construction...D. Nice guy but asking me if and quot; I can live with it?and quot; That's not right. Again a decent guy but isn't on top of things in my opinion. Probably spread too thin.</p> <p>Quality Control/Assurance. F. Quite clear that no one inspected our materials before bringing them to the job site to ensure correct lengths and stains ordered matched what they received. </p> <p>The subcontractors Willet uses to do the various specialty work like plumbers and electricians....A+. They are now my go to companies for service. You sure can't beat that!</p> <p>Overall...the final results were fantastic! I just wish we didn't have to go through the issues listed above. So this is where I'm torn in making a recommendation. So I will just say, read through my comments and make your decision. The final outcome was amazing and we are VERY SATISFIED. </p> <p>If they can solve their lack of QA of materials before they reach the customer's home then I will easily recommend Willet. Deb Brown and the full time workers are amazing. You can't beat those skills and talents! I hope this helps.</p> <br />"

"We first had them come out and finish our basement and add a bathroom. They were the lowest price, which actually concerned us a little, but we'd heard good things about them so had them do the work. During the estimate the contractor and a design/scheduling person came out. It was great because we got ideas from the design person, who also makes sure that everyone is where they are to be when they need to be there. The work was done and done right. Mahris does a good job of making sure the subs they use know what they're doing and are professional. We were pleased with the basement, so had them come back and do the family room and upper level bathroom. The work took a little longer than we would have liked, but based on quality and how easy they were to work with it was well worth the extra time. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Seward, NE

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
