"I don't usually leave reviews but I felt compelled after the service I received. I am a new homeowner and I had no idea how important it is to have the chimney/flue inspected/cleaned. I decided to go with North American and I am honestly impressed. I was graced with the presence of Steve & Chris after receiving a call advising they would be arriving. They showed up in full uniform, where early and very knowledgeable. I had my step father check their work after they left out of curiosity. He's been in the HVAC industry for decades and advised the cleaning was done properly and to stick with them. I asked around about other companies and my friends advised that most chimney companies are scams looking for a quick buck. Honestly I don't get that from North American. I plan to stick with them because I trust them. Thank you Angie for the platform to express myself."

The two technicians who performed the work were very professional and worked hard to overcome some unforeseen installation difficulties. Meanwhile, some other companies I contacted were unresponsive and less interested in performing a small installation project. "Called to get a quote on sweeping the chimney, and also replacing an existing cap that had fallen off. They called back quickly, but quoted a price of about $375 (after Angie's List discount) for the cleaning, and another $350 to replace the cap. Called Downeast for another quote, and they said $275 for the cleaning, and "while we're up there we'll just put the cap back on." (Downeast ended up charging just $175, because they inspected it and said it didn't need cleaning, so just charged for the visit and replacing the cap.)"

I had a chimney liner installed in my older home and they took care to leave it better than they found it. Some pointing was done as well at the top of the chimney that needed fix. "These guys did an outstanding job.  Prompt, professional, honest, friendly, kept a neat work site, beautiful work and had an excellent price.  My house was built in 1906 and the old chimney above the roofline was in pretty rough shape - ready to come down.  I had four different companies that I found on Angies List come over and give estimates.  Rich was the first person to come for an estimate and ultimately the one I chose.  His estimate was lower than the competition and gave a good first impression.  They came over a couple weeks later to do the rebuild and I couldn't be more pleased.  They were here for two days, always here when they said they would be and immediately set-up staging to demolish the old chimney.  The new chimney is beautiful - they used nice looking bricks and installed a nice cap.  It's a brand new chimney, but it looks like it's always been here.  I would highly recommend these guys.

"I recently had FRS Roofing install a roof on my home. I was impressed with the way they conducted business, and I am very happy with the finished product. One of their salesmen, Joseph Costello went on my roof and filmed the issues he saw that needed attention. He showed me a video on his computer of the inspection he had just completed of my roof. He then showed me his suggestion of what should be done and also had samples of the materials that FRS would use on the roof replacement. I was impressed with the materials that would be used and chose FRS to replace my roof. I watched the roofers replace the roof and perform the work and cleanup. After the job was complete Joseph Costello once again went on the roof and filmed the finished product for me to view on his computer. Very happy with the entire process, Thank You."

"Our chimney needed to be rebuilt from the roof up. We called Carl for an estimate and he sent someone out who gave a free verbal estimate of $1300.00. We scheduled the work and were told they would come out to do the project as soon as they could, as there were other projects ahead of us. The work was completed during three consecutive days by the same gentleman who came out the first time to give the verbal estimate. On the third day, when the work was completed, Carl's worker stated he would be collecting a check from us that day. He then asked what we were quoted on the formal estimate from the company. This came as a complete surprise to us as the only estimate we had ever received was the free, verbal estimate when he first visited our home. He then told my husband he was under the impression the total for the work came to $1800.00 and then he called Carl to confirm. Because of the miscommunication, Carl agreed to charge us $1350.00. This was a positive aspect in our dealings with the company, although they could have been more communicative and clear regarding a formal estimate in the first place. After the work was done, we noticed a lot of debris on our roof, including broken bricks and mortar from the old chimney. We also noticed that a large piece of mortar/cement had been left under our back deck as well as had been spread over parts of our foundation. We are assuming this was extra and the worker was trying to dispose of it. We also never received a receipt for the work. We should have asked for one when we gave him the check, but we were going out of town and were in a rush. Therefore, my husband called Carl multiple times the next week. Carl never answered his phone and his voicemail box was full every single time. My husband also sent an e-mail to the address listed on the company's website, detailing our concerns: 1) no receipt, 2) debris on the roof, and 3) a free cleaning of the chimney which had been part of a verbal agreement -- and my husband never heard back. Due to their unresponsiveness and the mess that was left at our home, we have given up on contacting this company and will be using a different company for any further chimney repairs or cleanings in the future."
