"We had a home inspection from David at RHS in 2015. He had been referred to us by our realtor. The report he gave us was so valuable. It resulted in the home seller fixing a number of important house issues before we completed the purchase. We ended up referring to the report for years afterward when we planned needed maintenance. In 2023, eight years later, we reached out again and asked if David could come do an inspection for the purpose of helping us prioritize needed maintenance. The one hour we spent with him saved us $15,000 in planned spending that we apparently didn't need to do just yet. We had several contractors told us we needed some specific things done, but it appears that was not the case. It's so helpful to have an independent and objective person with broad expertise that can help you know work needs to be done on your home when. At the end of meeting with him, we had a list of items we absolutely had to do (get new smoke detectors) and others that could wait a few years (getting a new roof). We were so happy with RHS and highly recommend this company."

"Buyers Eyes Home inspection did a great job on our pre-drywall home inspection. Almost every possible issue was caught. Brett was punctual and thorough. The multi page report had good pictures to help explain the issues that he found. Not every issue found could be fix by the builder because the recommendation was above the building code but most items were fixed. I'm really appreciative of the inspection that Brett did and look forward to the inspection he will do for me after my final is completed."

"It went exactly as I had hoped.  They were punctual, thoroughly explaining the process and keeping us updated as they progressed.  We had a crew of 3 and it took them about 5 hours.  All our ductwork, both intake and output were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.  David, the owner, came to check on how things were going, and to make sure we were satisfied.  He inspected the work being done.  It was a pleasure having this crew here.  They cleaned up after themselves (really no dirt in the house from the process itself).  I'm really pleased with the results.  I highly recommend this company.  They are hard-working and thorough. <br />"

"Troy, the service man arrived on time. We spoke a bit about where I am still seeing a showing of these persistent little pests. He walked through our home inside and out and even climbed onto our porch roof so that he could spray the windows and gutters. This man went far beyond what we have had done previously. He even called after the first treatment to see how the treatment was working. We are so Impressed with his professionalism and skill. This is the third company we have used to help us. I am finally seeing results and I am beyond happy! <br />"

"He is really reliable, he's very good and he's prices are good, he's not too expensive. We use him all the time. He does home inspection, mold inspection, radon and other things. He gave us a report on the quality of the air and to tell us if there was any hazard in the house. I would highly recommend him. He's very prompt and he's very professional. He accommodates me with my time and schedule. He's very flexible."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Sharpsburg, MD

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
