"Went OK. They did the work and it 'mostly worked' when they were done. I say mostly because the pressure valve was blowing off of the boiler when they were done (This was NOT happening before they had done the work). I had noticed this the day after I had paid. I contacted them and they wanted to replace the expansion tank and charge me $200. I asked - shouldn't this be covered under the initial work of $4600? They said the part wasn't explicitly in the quote. Frankly at this point to replace what really was a $40 part and half hour of time to do a fully finished job (for $4600). For 1. How am I supposed to know (as a customer) what should be on the quote for a fully finished job (pumps, piping, etc? - they are the expert) 2. How am I supposed to know this isnt their fault. (Shouldnt an autofilling expansion tank be connected to the incoming water supply?) Frankly not standing fully behind their work and making sure they do everything to do a good, finished job - left a 'bad' taste in my mouth. In the end I replaced the auto-filling expansion tank with an Extrol expansion tank for $40 and it took me less than an hour. After that it all appears to work."

"We love our kitchen! Quality is excellent and the attention to detail is obvious. We were so grateful when Ralph connected us to a design team to help us with our dream kitchen. But his creative ideas and wonderful problem solving skills kept the project moving. The construction area was cleaned daily and the project was finished on time and on budget. We really enjoyed having him in our home. His can do attitude made us feel confident we chose the right contractor."

"<p>Wow... where do I begin ,,,I called Bill for an estimate -- he came out that very night ... but I had told him that my husband wanted to go with asphalt - as we THOUGHT asphalt would be less expensive--- NOT SO !</p>   Long story - short -- Bill's concrete estimate was the same as the asphalt -- until we started adding color and texture to our driveway -- but even then, his pricing was very reasonable for the "art" he was creating.   Bill went above and beyond what was expected -- we ran into some old buried septic tanks -- he removed them.  He graded our front yard as it was very steep and we have ended up with our DREAM DRIVEWAY !!!!   Bill Eves KNOWS CONCRETE ! he is 3rd generation in the concrete business -- you will get QUALITY and FAIR PRICING !!! <br />"

"The initial work went well but we have had several issues since then and he doesn't follow through or be responsive.  We have had to contact others regarding the repairs/issues that were seemingly the result of the new roof and skylight.  We have asked him to come out three times but he has only shown up once.  We paid the big bucks thinking we would get great service but have been more than disappointed with Weatherhead's accountability. <br />"

"Bob was hired to install a door where there never was one before.  Therefore, he had to make the doorway a bit larger to accommodate the pre-hung solid door.  That job took the longest and he also did the locks.  Then on to the screen door.  It really looks nice and works well for the owners.  There has to be some finishing on the interior (molding), but my son is able to do that.  The job was messy, for sure.  Redwood dust everywhere!  Wish I had known, I would have covered everything in the sunroom.  Although, I have to hand it to Bob.......he did clean up the wood chunks on the exterior this time!  :)   <br /> I had him last year to install a dishwasher, sink and then replace the disposal after sink was installed.  There was some carpentry work to be done so the dishwasher would fit properly.  Also, hard wiring for the dishwasher.  So far all is still in working order!  That cost was $400 total for labor alone. <br /> I didn't use a coupon for either of the jobs. <br />"

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Shelbyville, MI

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
