"Wendel's team worked extremely efficiently to complete my full perimeter interior french drain and sump pump installation after a previous contractor stopped showing up for the work. They were done in a day when the previous project was taking months."

"The job was fairly straightforward and I had already procured the sink and most of the additional supplies but the job required some replumbing of both the water supply and drain. The master plumber worked efficiently and professionally and the job was completed in a few hours. The cost was determined from a standard table in a notebook but does not take into account the complexity of the job or whether materials are supplied by owner. Since I supplied most of the materials (plumber supplied valves and pipe and drain fittings) the price seemed rather high for around 3 hours work. However, I've had no professional plumbing work done recently and thus have nothing to compare it to. The plumber was very pleasant and professional and the work of high quality. I have no other complaints."

"Found vendor via homeadvisor.com. They promptly returned my request and booked appt same day. The vendor didn't show up yesterday and offered me a $25 credit to reschedule which was fine. They also offered me a $99 credit for a "Dispatch fee" which later I found didn't apply to me. This was confusing. Texts kept me informed along the way. Today: The plumber was great. She was very professional and completed work to our satisfaction. Quoted me a price of $536 when she showed up today. I have no document in hand stating any price or terms before today. I figured it would be a very involved job for that fee (2-3 hours). So I said yes. To my amazement, she finished the job in 37 minutes and still charged me $536 stating "All prices are fixed fees". I have no contract explaining. I paid and called the company. Spoke to Mr. Jeff M (Ops manager) at Landry who was professional and nice. He repeated that "all prices are fixed and nothing he can do on price". I offered him $250-$275 now to settle which I feel is more than fair for 37 minutes. Plumbers in my area get paid $50 by their employers, yes companies need to make a profit, and I support that. He refused. I informed him I was contacting HomeAdvisor to which he responded "Yeah they are my vendor too, you won't have much luck there"."

"Jeff M. was the technician for the annual service for my two sump pumps in the the basement. He was very nice and completed the job in a timely fashion. The product itself that we have of a french drain system and 2 sump pump works and we have not had any water in the basement since getting it installed. I would recommend Busy Dogs product to anyone."

"I am so lucky to have found Jim. My rented-out property developed a leak from a worn out drain in the upstairs bathtub that damaged the ceiling of the dining room below. Jim got there promptly and provided invaluable advice in obtaining a separate construction contractor (to repair the ceiling) and working with the insurer and adjuster to ensure that all parties were in agreement with the work that was needed and the costs that would be incurred. He was patient with the insurance company and then completed the work perfectly, timely, and safely so that the Tenant was able to remain in the residence at all times. Jim had to deal with various job difficulties such as one occasioned by the fact that the tub was about 60 years old and therefore its replacement necessitated installation of a different size tub (they don't make tubs in the old size anymore) and re-setting of pipes to enable the new tub to work."

"CJ's Plumbing a great bunch of people to work with. From quoting to removal of old to installation of new furnace. Kept me informed of what was happening, answered my questions along the way. By far the best price compared to competitors, and I did a lot of quoting. I would recommend CJ's to everyone. Also I would like to say the Town building inspector/plumbing inspector said to wife that CJ's did a nice job and approved the install in minutes. I would use these guys again."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Sheldonville, MA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
