"I would give them 0 stars if I could. In September, 2023, I had Collin County Sprinkler put in a drip line around my house to water the foundation. Also I had just planted a new tree in my back yard just 4 days earlier. I asked them to run irrigation to the new tree. I noticed after the crew left that they had removed one of the bubbler heads from a tree about 15 feet away, installed a T fitting from the first tree and attached supply line tubing to the new tree then attached the bubblers. Soon after, I noticed that the tree wasn’t setting watered properly. Another person showed up and told me that the bubblers were not adjusted properly. The adjusted them and it seemed to make it better at the time. Since the trees water before I wake up, I had not noticed the my new tree was not being watered properly, so when my grand sons come over, I had them to remove the bubbler heads from all 3 trees on the zone to see how far the water would shoot up in the air at each of the 3 trees. I was surprised that water was barely bubbling from one opening only. The other openings you could see water in the riser only. I called Collin County and was informed that it would be two weeks before anyone would be at my house. The finally came and was very punctually. After looking at the trees and taking off one head in the two tree rings that were in close proximity. After turning the water on, he said, the only way to fix this is to install a new zone to the tree that was installed last year and informed me that it would cost an additional $650 to have that done. The tech called Steve, the owner of the sprinkler company and was told by him that I was asked at the time if I wanted to put in a new zone and I turned it down. I WAS NEVER GIVEN THAT OPTION! The owner insisted that they did. How would he know for sure, he wasn’t the one that was here. I proceeded to ask the tech to have Steve call me to discuss the problem. Later in the day, a different person called to discuss the matter. All he did was parrot what Steve had told the tech earlier. I told him that apparently Steve didn’t have the balls to call a customer that wasn’t satisfied with the companies work, so he made him do it. So much for them guaranteeing their work. I think I read one reviewer say they guaranteed their work for 3 years. I think that is a little long. I had them install it, complained about the low pressure within the first month, complained about it again when they came out on April 2 to do a spring tune up and then come out on July 16th. On top of that I was charged ”a reduce rate” of $50 for a service call to look at a problem that they created. I would have thought if their techs were proficient in their trade, the would have mentioned that the tree needed a new zone— not only upon install, bit the other two times they were here instead of adjusting the bubbler heads and calling it fixed. If ir wasn’t going to work properly, they had 3 opportunities to tell me before I was finally told. I know this has been a long review and I chose them because of the large amount of 5 star reviews they have. However, if you use them, you do carry the chance of being the next one star reviewer. Save yourself the frustration and find a different sprinkler company for your irrigation needs."

"Caleb Jensen was professional and did an excellent job designing and installing our irrigation system. We are out in the country, and he came out to give an estimate and point out any challenges we may face. Overall, a great experience and would recommend."

"Slater Lawn has always been great about coming out any time we needed work done on our sprinkler system. We had one issue where the wires were pulled up out of a valve box and apparently not put back right. They were able to fix the issue quickly. Recently, a concrete company poured a slab and destroyed the pvc piping where they poured causing my system to leak under the slab. It has been a nightmare to deal with but Slater's guys have been great. They scheduled the appointment time, showed up when they were scheduled, did the work.. then came back when we realized there was a second leak. They work hard, fast and they get it done professionally and are always ALWAYS courteous. Its sad that they have to come fix what someone else broke."

"Two repairmen arrived on time, checked all 9 of our programmed sprinkler zones, found numerous leaks that two sprinkler repair teams we previously used had missed. They dug up, repaired, and restored sprinkler lines, repaired sprinkler heads, and reprogrammed our system with more appropriate times. They restored dug-up areas. They explained why certain areas of our yard were not getting enough water, and how they had fixed them. They had all needed parts with them even though we never told them what we had. They were extremely polite, personable, and professional. We will be using them from now on."

"Impact Landscaping did a fabulous job!! We have 2 huge flowerbeds in front of our house. Erik came up with a plan for flowers that we love! We ended up hiring the company to do mowing, care for the beds, and seasonally change annuals - for only a small amount more than we were currently paying for just mowing. Our house is close to our neighborhood greenbelt and on a busier road. We are constantly having people stop and look at the flowerbeds. ?"

"Stenson Landscaping did an outstanding job on a complicated project in my front yard. I was looking to have the following done: 1) repair all existing stone landscaping walls (which were in bad shape); 2) demo the old front walkway and pour a new one with a different pattern of stairs; 3) build stone retaining walls down the sides of the front walkway and across much of the front of the yard, and have those walls match the existing stonework; 4) fill behind the walls with gravel and filter fabric for drainage and fill dirt for planting; 5) update all irrigation to the new layout and ground level, including installing drip irrigation lines for future planter bowls. Stenson did an outstanding job at the project. They worked to detailed specifications and designs that I provided them, and were open to feedback and willing to make changes on the fly as needed. The stonemasonry in particular is outstanding - the walls are very solid, built with rebar and concrete footers, and really look incredible. The change in the look of my front yard is night and day. I'm thrilled with the outcome of the project and would absolutely hire them again."

"Lazy Work and Horrible Customer Service Last October I had a zone go out and Discount Sprinkler repaired it to get my system up and running. When I turned my system back on in late May I noticed the zones were not working again. At that same time I noticed an exposed low voltage wire in our sloped side bed so we made a point to mention to the tech when he came out on Friday, May 31. He told my wife the wire had become disconnected and to be very careful as the connection is very sensitive. Furthermore he charged us for labor when I called originally the receptionist noted it would be a warranty visit. When I came home that same wire was still exposed and in the process of doing the right thing of burying the wire the zones once again lost power. I called first thing Monday AM and spoke to the receptionist and she said she would let the owner know. I explained to her we just planted $800 worth of plants and were leaving town on Thursday PM so getting our system up and running was vital. After no call back I left a message Tuesday early afternoon. I then called another vendor Wednesday AM after I still did not get a call back. The new vendor was able to come out on Thursday. He ran a new line to be efficient with time, and this time buried it in the grass as he said he avoids beds since they are susceptible to erosion so not the best area to bury wire. After I returned from my trip I was finally able to connect with the owner (Richard) on June 12 (I called him BTW…still no call back from my outreach). He said he would connect with his tech. After no reply I texted Richard on June 17 and he replied the tech was not familiar with the job. To help expedite I texted pics of my house plus the 2 Discount Sprinkler invoices and the 2nd vendor’s invoice (so he could see I hired someone to fix their poor workmanship). Still nothing. Fast forward to July 19 after numerous follow ups on my end and Richard finally said the May 31 visit was not in fact a warranty visit and that he would not reimburse for the labor from that visit. Oh, he offered a credit for a tune up in the future, but clearly having Discount Sprinkler come work on my system was not anything I would consider. All that said it is beyond crazy how poor of a service Discount Sprinkler provided. The lazy job back in October is one thing, but to not fix that wrong on the May 31 visit (if a wire is so sensitive why on earth leave it exposed in a bed where there is obvious foot traffic?), and still charge me is absurd. In the end I would have been content if he credited back the $148 in labor for the May 31 visit to help offset the 2nd vendor’s labor, but alas he did not. Perhaps Richard will one day care about customer service and doing the right thing when issues arise. Until then I would think twice before using Discount Sprinkler."

FAQs for lawn and garden sprinkler system installation projects in Sherman, TX

While drip irrigation systems have higher upfront costs, they can save you money in the long run. By delivering water directly into the soil with minimal evaporation and runoff, drip irrigation systems conserve water and improve efficiency. This means better performance and results for your landscaping, and cost savings over the system's lifespan.

Yes, irrigation systems can add value to your home, especially when installed with high-quality materials and a solid design. A well-irrigated landscape enhances curb appeal and can attract potential buyers. However, poor design or installation may reduce performance and even decrease your property's value. Hiring an expert for installation and performing regular maintenance is key to securing the long-term benefits.

A local irrigation professional can help you check your drip irrigation system to make sure it's in good shape. You'll want to make sure the water pressure is in a good range, repair any leaks as soon as possible, and cover the cost to winterize your sprinkler system as recommended by your irrigation contractor.

A drip irrigation system lasts between 10 and 15 years. This lifespan is determined by the quality of materials, the precision of installation, and regular professional maintenance. Unlike traditional sprinkler systems that can last up to 50 years, the thinner piping used in drip systems is more sensitive to UV exposure and environmental wear. Proper upkeep and timely repairs enhance durability and ensure consistent irrigation performance.

Drip irrigation is best suited for plant beds, containers, greenhouses, and row crops. It supplies water directly to individual plants, ensuring precise moisture control where it is needed most. For areas with simple layouts, above-ground systems work efficiently, while subsurface installations may be cost-prohibitive in spaces with extensive tree roots or irregular terrain. Proper planning maximizes the benefits of drip irrigation across a variety of applications.
