"I spent $199 on the job. They made the job a little complicated. They had sent some of their people to a school, which was particularly for the job I wanted done. The people, who had worked on my water heater, had informed me that I get the extraction done instead of carpet cleaning. They informed me that it would work out to be much cheaper. So, I called these guys. They took off the carpets and they took the padding under the carpets. Then, they extracted the water. They threw the padding away. The cost included the taking out of the padding. I was asked to be gone for three days. They were afraid that the mold had gotten in there. They were all set to do a big treatment, but I guess they could tell from my skeptical nature that I did not want it done. They had the instruments to check if the mold had gotten in to the wood work. The instruments could detect the level of moisture in the carpets. They stuck it down in the carpets and detected where the moisture was. It seemed to be accurate because I knew where the water had spilled and how far it had gotten by the time I had called them. So, I did not need further treatment. I am not sure how accurate these things are, but they claim that they are trained in a school on such things. I thought that the price was a little high, but they did a good job; it was not totally unreasonable. I was satisfied with the results. I do not how far they would have gone and how much the work would have cost if I had not been suspicious. I do know that mold can be a problem in flooded areas. It can get to be dangerous in some cases. I do not know if the three days that I had gone away were enough, but I do know that they were really concerned about it. Had they found different results or had I not got suspicious, the $200 might have escalated to a higher amount. I would advice anybody using them for extraction to be careful. I do not think that all the carpet cleaning companies do extraction because there are a lot of details involved in it. A lot of them do not have humidifiers anymore. I had called a number of carpet cleaning companies found on Angie’s List and a lot of them do not do extraction anymore. On the other hand, when I called this company, they had a whole department for extraction. They have gone into it in a big way. I am not sure if what they are doing is legitimate or not. I am not accusing them of anything, but I think people would worry about whether it is all true or not. I am just saying that I do not know anything and so, I did not let them do anything more than extraction. I got an installer from another carpeting company to put in a new padding and packed down with the carpet. With Stanley Steemer, I would say that they did what they said they were going to do. Their responsiveness was fine. They came out very soon after I called them. They were on time. At another time, they also would have supplied the padding and installed the same, which I had another installer do. They advised me that if they did the installation, them the price would have been higher. So, they did warn me about that and I followed their advice. I would say they seemed to be extremely professional. I think they may have overdone the explanation of what the mold would do. On the other hand, maybe it was their job to make sure I understood all that. I would use them again in the future."

"The installers showed up at the scheduled time. The were very friendly and helpful. They moved furniture, ripped up old carpet and padding and installed new padding and carpet. All furniture was put back before they left in the proper places. <br /> I absolutely love my new carpet and would not hesitate to use Empire Today - Dayton again! <br />"

"We had a very good experience with Creative Carpet. From the very first email inquiring about a quote, Valarie was responsive and quickly addressed all of our questions and concerns. She worked around our (sometimes very difficult) schedule, and made sure that we could get measurements and installation on dates/times that worked for us. She helped us find a very nice carpet that worked within our budget, and we are thrilled with the finished product. <br />"

"PRICE above is estimate!!  I remember for the work they did, the price was great (including the vinyl) but my husband took care of the bill and he doesn't remember exactly what it was. We only paid about $200 for the vinyl remnant 10x12 which was a great savings!  <br /> We were called ahead of time as a reminder. The lady in the store was very nice and easy to work with figuring out our install time and dates over the phone. The removal of old carpet and installation of new vinyl seemed to go very smoothly. The guys were efficient and worked well. I can't think of their names now, two younger guys.  They didn't damage the thin baseboards at all either in removing or reinstalling. They cleaned up their mess and did a very nice job! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Sidney, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
