"Scott the owner set up estimate meeting in a timely manner and provided written estimate at the same time. I called 2 weeks later to hire and job was done the next day! Trent came to do hardscape repairs and did an excellent job. Both individuals very nice personable individuals. Would hire again."

"This was a very involved plaster repair and remediation job, in a very old house. Grady is the only person (or company) who was willing to take on the job and drive all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Northern Virginia. There are very few people who do this kind of work anymore (we really searched) and he is an expert in his field. We needed to work around his schedule, because he is in demand in the tri-state area, so it took awhile to schedule the work to begin... but it was worth it."

"Brooks, Gail, and the team were wonderful throughout the entire process.  We met Gail (the Landscape Designer) at the Home and Garden Show and booked an appointment.  Gail came out on time and, right from the start, was already thinking of things in a way we couldn't have even imagined.  She took what we wanted and drew it up by hand and presented it to us in person.  She blew us out of the water.  We never would've been able to come up with anything close to that on our own.  We gave her a budget and she stuck to it.  She gave us options and wanted for us to just enjoy what we would have and not price us out of our neighborhood.  She listened to what we wanted and needed and then gave us so much more! <br /> They actually were able to start earlier than expected.  The job took a couple days longer than planned simply due to poor weather.  But it doesn't even matter.  Our yard started out as mud pit.  We never went out there.  Now, it's a paradise and we can't stay away!  Brooks, the owner, was on the job each day and he wanted nothing more than for us to be happy.  We actually purchased and built a pergola before they started, and they installed it for us.  They worked late more than once to make sure they were staying on track. The guys were professional, hard-working, and cleaned up after themselves.  <br /> I cannot say enough good things about Brooks Landscaping!  They were not the cheapest, but they certainly were the best!  They answered every question we had and always made time for us.  Excellent service, excellent responsiveness, and excellent quality!!  We couldn't be happier!!!! <br />"

"It was hard to think when I shopped or waited for my food due to what I can only describe as disjointed music that constantly played in the background but was a little loud. I like Anderson's except for the loud music. I've been there a few times but will probably not go back due to the loud music that seems to constantly play. When I shop or go out to eat, I like to relax and if the store plays music, I like it to be relaxing. I may be influenced to some degree by research that indicates that some music played in public places can be an additional stressor for a majority of people, even when they don't realize it. I would place the music Anderson chooses to play for its customers in that category."

"Chris and his guys did an awesome job with installing two brick retaining walls in our backyard along with a paver patio on the top level. We also had new irrigation piping installed as well as top soil and seeding in the backyard. These guys did an awesome job, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for high quality work at a reasonable price! From the very beginning, Chris and his dad were very thorough with their estimates, and I got the sense they were genuine people not trying to rip you off. They continued to back that up through the entire time they performed the work. I will certainly go to them again in the future for any landscaping needs!"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Smithfield, VA

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
