"Jeremy and crew are wonderful to work with - our entire family loved having them around. Our highest exterior wall is near 30’ from the ground, but Seattle Paint and Design’s experience and quality were more than up to the challenge. Beautiful masking work on all protected surfaces kept any spray blow back out. Our house is painted with the finest quality paint, no bubbles, cracks, or peeling after 1 year. Their thoroughness with second coats where needed and touch ups provided us with a perfect finish, and our house still looks amazing!"

"Corvus Construction is one in a million! Denis and the crew were responsive and professional at all times. Here are a few examples: 1. The crew showed up for work every day ready to go and prepared with a good attitude. 2. During the day, the crew was considerate of personal property and communicated very well on desires and questions. 3. Before leaving each day they cleaned up the work area as much as possible making certain it was safe for us to use without stepping on something sharp. Also, each day before leaving, the guys asked if we wanted to check their progress and answer any questions we may have had. Denis runs the crew with a tight rein and keeps track of everything about to happen in the expected order. There was never a time when we were uncertain of the progress expected and all questions were answered promptly. Any new issues were resolved without delay. Making this team even more exceptional, Denis went above and beyond to help us figure out another problem we were experiencing outside of the contracted job. We did what he suggested saving us even more stress, time, and money. Besides the carpenters being on point, accurate, and amazing, the tile expert created a work of art we are very proud of and will enjoy for the rest of our lives. We look forward to hiring Corvus Construction again for future projects."

"Dan & his team were on-time, stayed in schedule & cleaned up daily. Dan designed the shower bench and jacuzzi surround. He guided us through the process and asked questions along the way. The workman ship & tile work was impeccable. My husband and I have done most of the work to our home ourselves but this was a major remodel with plumbing & electrical being completely moved and updated and walls built and new everything so hiring someone was a big deal & I found him on this site. I could not have asked for more. Thank you !"

"The process went well and the results were exactly how we expected them to be. The construction only took about a week and the price that Alex suggested was reasonable and affordable. Alex's crew was very polite and did a fantastic job. Overall amazing results, we are very happy with our new patio."

"Brian did a great job. He's responsive, communicates well and knows his stuff. He installed three outside lights and a range hood. The new hood didn't have all the needed vent parts to match the old one. He secured the correct parts and installed it efficiently. He is also working with us on a kitchen countertop replacement and has been very helpful - sending a schematic to the countertop company and helping coordinate the effort. We'll use him to tear out the old countertops and install the new sink."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Snohomish, WA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
