Given the Stay at Home situation, and that there were no children living in my house, his temporary fix was very much appreciated, until he returned for the permanent repair. "I have used this business for both my washer and dryer and dishwasher for years. Prompt, professional, and really honest. This time, my knob to adjust the cycle on my washer broke off. Could not change the settings. He quoted me a not inexpensive price to order a replacement, but suggested that I simply remove the one from the second rinse dial and place on the broken one, switching them back if needed. He then used the visit to check out thoroughly both the washer and dryer. Basically the very reasonable price of a basic service call. He always asks questions over the phone before coming out to make sure that it is actually a problem with our appliance, like asking us to double check the circuit breaker first. (How embarrassing!) He is usually out within a day or two after a call and will try to accommodate our availability (but we don't live far from his business). When our dishwasher went out, he recommended a brand and model on sale that would least likely require him to come back for repairs for a long time! I wish that he fixed more than just washers, dryers, and dishwashers. (I think he does some stoves, but not ours)."

"Total Appliance Service was one of two repair shops in my area listed on the manufacturer's web site. Some of the reviews on Angie's list for TAS are dreadful. So, I called the other shop first. There was a scheduling mishap with them, and I called TAS. My clothes washer has a 5 year warranty when the industry standard is for 3 years. The first place I called was very skeptical. They eventually agreed to honor that provided I produce the warranty documentation. TAS lookup up my model online while I was on the phone and confirmed the 5-year warranty. The technician arrived within the window and had a part in hand. Based on my description he knew what was wrong. He completed the repair within a reasonable amount of time and was personable. My experience with TAS was good."

"Mr. McGowan was very knowledgeable, transparent and upfront about parts and labor costs. Couldn't ask for quicker service. We called him on Thursday, he arrived Friday afternoon to diagnose and procure the parts needed, and repaired our washer on Saturday early afternoon on time as promised. He also accepts multiple forms of payment, which is cool. Luckily we came up with enough cash, but it was nice to know we could pay with a credit card if necessary. <br /> If you're looking for fast, reliable service at a good price, this is your guy. Having appliances, especially new ones break down sucks. Period. But at least Selby makes the process of fixing it as painless as possible. <br />"
