"they were on time and finished the work in the estimated time. It did take 10 days for carpet to arrive as with all places we checked: Lowe's, Home depot and a family owned business in Pale Alto.
"

"I was shopping around for carpet and ended up going to Sam's after a contractor recommended them to me. I went down to their showroom and found the exact carpet that I wanted. I had found the same carpet at 2 bigger carpet stores but Sam's had it at 1/2 the price. The carpet was installed in our home a few days later and it looks great. I'm happy with the carpet and the installation. "

"Rande showed up on time, efficiently set up his equipment and was done in about an hour. The carpets were dirty from pets and walking on them with shoes on.
He set up a powerful floor fan to dry the carpet in the living room before he left and also gave us shoe/feet covers to wear so we could walk on the damp carpet. Even before the carpets fully dried, they were noticeably brighter!
I am very happy with the outcome of the carpets and will call on Rande again in the future.
"

"Spoke to Greg M. from Abbey Carpet and he did an excellent job getting hardwood floors installed in my house. He gave me an excellent price quote and made everything go smooth as possible. Franklin then came to my house and did an excellent job installing the hardwood floors. His work was clean and very professional.
i would highly recommend Abbey Carpet. And ask for Greg to assist you.

"

"I called literally 15 hardwood floor dealers on Angie's list and was desperate because I was under an extremely tight tight line to move out of a rental place get the floors done in my new house (3 weeks). Bob gave me a heart attack when he said he could not only give me a quote but do the work in under 3 weeks (others couldn't do it for two months) and still wanted to charge me for a quote even though they couldn't do the work. He came over to my house and looked around and gave me a quote within the day. I came down to his shop the next day and picked out a hardwood floor. He is not only professional but has an extremely great personality. He is extremely accommodating when arranging to drop off contracts and picking up payments if you work full time and the workers did a great job on the floor installation. I was just giddy with the quality of the job. I would highly recommend them. He even gave me a cleaner for the floor and floor dots for the furniture. Thank you so much!!
"

"These people absolutely knocked themselves out to meet my needs.
I needed to replace an old hall runner rug in time for the visit of some friends. I first got to Bittick's on a Saturday less than two hours before closing, and needed the new rug a week later. I had very specific size, texture, and color requirements, but it is difficult for me to make color decisions based on samples in the store. The rug had to be made from carpeting which had to be ordered, so the time frame was very tight. I needed someone to quickly narrow down the choices for me from the vast array of what was on display in the store.
Mark immediately tuned in to what my needs were, and gave his full attention to helping me reach a quick decision, even though this was a relatively small amount of business for them. He quickly zeroed in on the brand of carpeting that could be delivered in time, and explained all the other options, some of which I'd never heard of. I had a really hard time distinguishing among the various shades that were available of the color I wanted, and the more I tried the more confused I became. Thankfully, Stephanie had the ability to understand what I was looking for and to make this judgment. When I walked out of the store, I was amazed to realize that this had all gotten done with 3/4 hr. still left until closing.
The following Monday they called to say that the specific carpeting chosen was out of stock at the manufacturer. I had no time to revisit their store, and because I had so much confidence in them, I authorized them to pick something else. This raised the cost by $100. When I went to pick up the new rug, I found that Mark had been able to work things out so that the additional cost was only $40 more.
"

"We have purchased other rugs at California Carpet and always liked the choice and service. We went back again for our re-carpeting needs upstairs. DJ at the San Carlos store assisted us in finding the carpet to suit our needs. He showed up a wide variety of carpets from many price points. We wanted a good, durable, soft and long lasting carpet. He would have been more than happy to show and sell us carpet from their "roll room" right up to the designer section. We didn't feel like we were steered to any particular style. He listened to our desires and needs and explained the benefits of the various brands. We settled on a Karastan Smartstrand cut pile. It was dense, stain resistant and very soft feeling (which is what I really wanted). It just felt so good to my hand and feet. I love it! It was quite a bit more than a similar carpet (about $15 to $20/yrd) but I can really feel the difference between the two. To me, worth the extra expense. They worked with us in finding a price that we were happy with and so were they. It's a big expense and will last a long time, we felt it was worth getting a product that was exactly what we wanted and it really isn't that much more for the quality improvement. Time will tell.

The installation was handled by their "in-house" installers. Installation makes the difference. The carpeting we replaced had seams showing all over the place. When we purchased the house 8yrs ago the seams were already there and the carpet was only 4yrs old. Again, time will tell, but this is a different type of carpet and seams shouldn't be an issue. The installation crew actually installed with less seams than the old carpet, which is good. They sent a three man crew and they installed in one day. Two bedrooms, loft, three walk in closets, hallway and stairs. Also, had to shuffle furniture between two rooms. They showed up before the window given to me and were finished right before 6pm. Transitions to the bathroom tile and to the third bedroom (carpet not changed) look great. They were professional and friendly. I saw that one stair got pulled up and redone when it was not to his liking. They cleaned up when finished and were on their way. Everything seems well installed to me and I have been assured that any problem that might come up in the future will be handled by California Carpet. I don't have any reason to believe it will not.

I would definitely recommend California Carpet to anyone looking to purchase carpet."

"Brian came out late Friday afternoon at the end (I am sure) of a long work week. He showed up as scheduled and went right to work. I had to change my original appointment and had no problems contacting nor rescheduling. Carpets look good! I prefer supporting family owned businesses and would not hesitate to recommend Castles Home Services.
"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Soquel, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
