The company is not local, so we talked over the phone with their customer service agent to define which sensors and equipment we'd need, and then they shipped us the unit to install ourselves. The initial discussion with customer service was quick and painless, and we received the system just two days later. One of the sensors was missing, but they immediately shipped it to us, and then walked us through how to add it to the system. Installation was straightforward, and their customer service agent worked with us over the phone one last time to activate the system. Our monthly monitoring cost is reasonable (about $50/month) and the company is very responsive to problems: for example, we accidentally triggered a panic alarm a month ago, and when we called to tell them it was an accident, they took the time to walk us through the process of how the system notifies the monitoring center, how quickly they then notify the local police, etc. Their customer service is very good, especially for the price - we would definitely use them again. Our only concern is how long the GE equipment will last (for example, it is secured to the walls/windows with double-faced adhesive). But, this is a good option if you want affordable monitored home security, and we have been very pleased since installing it five months ago.

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. "1205My daughter and family moved into a home that my husband and I purchased for them to rent.  I received a mailer regarding a security system that looked like a good deal.  The installer was early (a good thing) and started telling us about why they needed a system...but at the beginning he kept trying to get us to upgrade over what was offered in the mailing.
We did upgrade to the wireless system, but at every turn, he tried to "scare" us into upgrading the system by telling my daughter and her husband how there have been multiple break ins in the area.  He also tried to push upgrades by saying that intruders could come in while the kids and my daughter were there by themselves and/or at night while they were sleeping...even after multiple times we told him that they couldn't afford what he wanted them to purchase.  It would have been four "easy" payments of $312 over and beyond the installation and the $45 monthly monitoring fee.
At one time, when my son-in-law told him that they may later get some of the necessary upgrades through someone he knew, the representative told asked us why we didn't call his "friend" to begin with!  The rep got rather belligerent and said he could just leave at this point! 
I understand that he would get a greater commission, but he was not very professional and even tried to get my daughter to upgrade the system by talking to her when I was in another room stating that "this is your house, not your Mother's". 
I went ahead and had him do the regular installation and monitoring as originally planned since it would have been more inconvenient to reschedule some one else since I lived so far away and I wanted them to be protected now, but if I had the foresight, I would not have gone with this company!
