"Frederick Scafani, the owner of FSP General Contractors, has done a terrible job with our kitchen tile flooring — the tiles are chipped, lippage is large, and all the grout is cracking and coming out. He has taken an illegal amount of deposit ($3000 when $1000 is the legal limit in CA) and has not fixed his work or returned our deposit. He has not responded to phone or emails. There were many other things that went wrong, including him not tapping water pipes and flooding the kitchen and hallway, with water leaking down to the floor below, but I’ll focus this review specifically on tile. I would highly advise to steer clear of Fred. Tile installation and grout: $5,840 Tiles + delivery: $1,295.86"

"Frederick Scafani, the owner of FSP General Contractors, has done a terrible job with our kitchen tile flooring — the tiles are chipped, lippage is large, and all the grout is cracking and coming out. He has taken an illegal amount of deposit ($3000 when $1000 is the legal limit in CA) and has not fixed his work or returned our deposit. He has not responded to phone or emails. "Ben is the contractor you want to work with. Ben did two projects for us… a kitchen remodel and new foyer, and then a couple years later a bathroom, new closet, wood stove hearth and hardwood floors and paint throughout our downstairs. He is super detail oriented to the point of being almost OCD. Our projects turned out great and on budget. His bids were mid to higher priced but we went with him again because we know we can trust him and the job would be done correctly. Would definitely work with him again"

Besides being unable to complete the majority of the work our contract was for, Fred failed to level out the floor before laying tile, which caused all the grout to immediately come out. All of the boards have significant give, cracking, and cupping, so all of the engineered wood also had to be demolished and relaid properly. He does excellent work, is very organized, and the pricing is very reasonable. Juan took care of ordering all of the Trex composite wood, brackets, and hardware to build the outdoor shutters.
