"I worked all the details with Kevin through phone and email.  Kevin delivered on every detail we had agreed to.  Action Carpet made an initial visit to explain what they were going to do.  They then came in on the scheduled date.  Moved all furniture items, removed the old carpet, installed new carpet, installed door transitions, and moved all furniture items back to where they were.  Highly recommended!!! <br />"

"John Balayan, the owner of Arakelian Rugs, is truly amazing! We called Arakelian Rugs after a disastrous spill on our oriental rug that resulted in red splatters in a large section of the rug. John not only immediately contacted us, he also came right out to see if it would even be possible to repair the damage. We are truly amazed that the team at Arakelian was able to restore our rug - we cannot even see any remnants of the stain! John gave us a timeframe for each step of the process and kept in touch with us throughout. We then had several other rugs cleaned at very reasonable prices. The rugs were picked up, delivered, and placed. We also purchased new padding which makes such a difference. We are truly grateful to the entire team at Arakelian Rugs for such professional and outstanding service."

"It went well. Our only concern was that we had an installation date of a Wednesday. I called on Tuesday to check the time and we were told the carpet had not arrived at their facility yet. But the installation would happen Thursday or Friday. It did occur on Thursday afternoon as promised - but we had to call them to find out the time and day. They were very apologetic about the delay - which was minor. The carpet was what we ordered and the installation went smoothly - the staff were very professional, working in the hot steamy weather that day and we do not have central air in the house. So - I was very pleased with the service and with the carpet itself. But we would have appreciated a pre-emptive call on the rescheduling and more of a heads-up call before they arrived. We weren't sure of the time of arrival until about an hour beforehand. <br />"

"After searching on Angie's list for a reputable company to install a stair runner near us, we decided to go with Floors Now and we are glad that we did. We went to their location on the Berlin Turnpike where a sales associate helped us pick out the perfect style runner for our home. Out of their extensive selection, we found 3 potential candidates. They let us take the samples home so we could compare them with the style throughout our house. We brought back the samples and placed our order. We paid in full up front but they also give the option to pay half at time of order and half when the work was completed. We were given a two hour window for install but they actually arrived slightly early, which was a welcome surprise. The install took about an hour and they made sure to vacuum the work area after they finished. The installer was very professional and efficient. We will definitely consider floors now for any future flooring needs."

"<p>This is the second time I have used Floor Décor for my flooring needs - but it certainly won't be the last. Working with all the Floor Décor staff was a very positive and stress-free experience. Both Janine and Michael made the carpet selection process very easy by listening to my requirements and concerns and offering many alternatives that met my needs completely. After I chose my carpeting, they very clearly explained the time line for both ordering and installation so I could plan accordingly. They kept me informed along the way and the installation took place as scheduled. The gentlemen installing the carpet were a joy to work with. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and were very pleasant. Most importantly, their workmanship was outstanding and the outcome was perfection. I was completely satisfied with my entire Floor Décor experience.</p>"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in South Windham, CT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
