"NextDay Inspect did a great job with my new construction home inspection. Being that the builder doesn't allow the homeowner to be the pre-settlement inspection (weirdest thing ever) I really depended on Michael from NextDay Inspect to be my eyes for the inspection. He was able to provide a detailed report with photos and suggestions. NextDay Inspect was also able to conduct a radon test on the same day after already completing the inspection. Everyone I spoke with at NextDay Inspect was very polite and easy to work with."

"Installer Dan arrived on time, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He installed the system with no issues and cleaned up after the job was done. I was very impressed with the detail Dan applied routing and placing the pipe and fan unit. I would highly recommend this company to do any radon testing or mitigation installs as they do a fantastic job. <br />"

"When it came time to purchase a new home I turned to Angie?s List to find an inspector.  I reviewed several different highly rated inspectors and found items that didn?t sit well.  Some of them had sample reports that were simple checkbox affairs without any details.  A few of them were using boilerplate websites with sections that still had ?insert comment here? in a live page.   <br /> A House On A Rock seemed to have it all together.  Their sample report was detailed and included extensive comments.  There was an active blog section with comments from the owner.  Their website was really showed attention to detail.  My wife is an animal lover.  Animals of all shapes, textures, and color.   When I showed her their write up on bat mitigation that went into detail about how this was the wrong season due to baby bats being born it caught her attention. <br /> The front page of the website shows Juan and his family.  When I read into their website there was an entire section about how he encouraged his customers to bring their entire family to the inspection.  Here?s where he cinched the deal.  Juan does a ?monster inspection?.   My wife and I built our current home 12 years ago and brought our daughter into our home 4 years ago.  This is the only home she has known.  The prospect of moving to a different home simply scares her.  Juan took a few minutes to talk to my daughter and explain how he looked for monsters.  When she mentioned ?good? monsters like those from Monster?s Inc. he didn?t miss a beat.  He assured her he had checked her room, the bathroom, the closest and guarantees that there are no bad monsters to be found.  He took a few minutes to talk to a 4 year old girl about what could be her new home.  At the end he gave her a certificate certifying her new home ?monster free? and a small stuffed monster.  The man knows how to win over a little girl. Sold. <br /> Now back to the reality of the inspection.  He brought a team that impressed my realtor even though I didn?t go with my realtors inspectors.  The guys were there early and up on the high roof before I got there a few minutes before our appointment.  They spent a long time going over the house.   The checked every nook and cranny.  They sent a drone up to take video and pictures of the chimney.  They inspected every inch of the house. <br /> My wife and I are skeptical engineers by trade.  Juan and his team blew us away.  They covered every inch of the property and sent us a detailed report that covered every possible issue.  After reading his website I even asked for a radon check.  I showed back up 3 days later when they picked up the meter.  I had a detailed radon report in hand not 2 hours after they left.  It showed radon levels well above what the EPA recommends for mitigation. <br /> His report armed me with the information I needed to negotiate the deal and not walk into a surprise after the purchase was closed.  I hope to not have to buy another home any time soon, but if I do I will be calling A House on a Rock.  They are good, attentive, and focused on little things that make life easier when buying a home. <br />"

"As we neared our one year anniversary in our new home we asked several neighbors who they had chosen for a home inspection. Although they all said their inspectors were good, only CJR actually would go on the roof. Since we had concerns about our roof (after seeing more than half the neighborhood get new roofs this year) we went with CJR. I can't begin to say how happy we were with John and Joe. They arrived on time and split up the duties of doing a very thorough inspection (it lasted over 3 hours). They found things we knew about and a lot that we didn't know about (like a small leak in the kitchen sink that showed up after they filled the sink up with water). Everything was tested to make sure it worked properly -- dishwasher, cooktop, oven, etc. All windows were opened to ensure they functioned properly (they found one wouldn't stay up). As for our roof, no hail damage, but they provided pictures of a lot of installation damage. At the end of the inspection, they sat down with us and provided a detailed presentation with pictures identifying all the items they found. Before they left the report was in my inbox. They even took down all the model/serial numbers of appliances, furnace, a/c unit, etc and we got a report if there were any recalls. Because we're in a high radon area, we had them also do a radon test. We will be telling other neighbors about our great experience with CJR."

"<p>Homeworx provided a prompt accurate estimate of the services I desired.  On the day of the inspection, Rich Hall arrived on time and provided a very comprehensive inspection of the interior and exterior of my home.  He provided an electronic and hard copy of the inspection report.  He fully explained the deficiencies and how they should be remedied.  The radon inspection also went very well.</p> <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Spotsylvania, VA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
