He listened closely to what we were experiencing and after quoting the cost for unplugging the kitchen sink, went right to work through the roof vent. "Be prepared: You don't just pay for the work done on your house. You start paying 105.00/hour from the minute your plumber is dispatched - no matter where he is coming from, yes, no matter where he is - in my case it was 20 minutes and I was told (by the woman who dispatches) that I was 'lucky' he was in the area. Then, before anyone starts working on your problem, there is a one time 20 dollar fee for equipment - huh, I'm paying for the plumber's equipment? And then, in my case, I had to pay an extra 30 minutes while we waited for a friend of the plumber's to come to help him carry the equipment out of my backyard. When I called to question having to pay for the 30 minutes of extra time, I was lectured by a condescending woman about why all these additional fees were required - from HER point of view. Yes, to her, it made perfect sense that I was charged yet another 50+ dollars for 'waiting' for someone to come and carry equipment from my back yard. Even though Joe was great (I'd hire him again), I will not return to A & R Plumbing - 2 of my neighbors saw A & R's truck and asked about my experience and I had to tell the same. At the end of the day, I was charged 215.00 for 45 mins of labor - watch out for those hidden fees."

"Our phone contacts (with owner and his wife, I think) were very pleasant. I think they scheduled us for an appointment the very next day, with James, their master plumber/heating man. <br /> James arrived very promptly and was business-like and professional. He worked very efficiently and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. We had purchased the faucets, filter, draining device, and grab bars he installed. Their policy is to guarantee their work but not the materials if the customer buys them. He found one sink to be on the verge of collapse, and we waited until we had purchased a new sink before he installed that sink and the new faucet. Each time he came they charged us and quot;plentyand quot; for the time it took from their office to our house (it seemed to us that could have been a smaller charge). <br /> He was very agile and adept at getting up into our little attic space to examine and remove our old fans. A little bit of insulation was trailed through the house, but not a big problem. He explained to us the purpose of the outdoor pipes and the reason that some need replacing. We are looking forward to completing the work when our budget has recovered from the first repairs. <br />"
