"While researching radon mitigation companies Rich was always on point in calling me back and sending email. This is what was the deciding factor in choosing which company we picked. I also called Rich back after we found out the exterior foundation had lead paint. He said they would take precautions to contain the dust from drilling the concrete. The other prospective companies had no idea on how to deal with this scenario and never called back when they said they would. The workers showed up a half hour early which was great and finished in 2 hours. The workers were very professional and cleaned up like they were never there. I asked if they could put it a certain location that was more convenient for us. No questions asked and they agreed that it would be a good spot. They caulked all piping in the basement so the system could be more effective in mitigating the radon. After installation they went over the system and answered any questions that I had. They guarantee the system and to get the levels below 4. The price was reasonable compared to other quotes. I would highly recommend them no questions asked."

"The service provided was Excellent! The radon level is now safe!! Joh and his team agreed to instal the system on one of the coldest days of the year in early Jan because I was worried and didn't want to wait for better weather. They were punctual, professional and personable. Joh helped pick the location for the unit so that it would be functional but also uninstrusive in the basement and on the outside of the house. Except for the soft whirring sound you would never know the system was there. It blends in so well on the outside that it just looks like another drain spout. I couldn't be more pleased. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants to lower the radon in their house to a safe level."

"The second time I had John from Citywide Home Inspections inspect a property. Same as the first time, he was great to work with! John was professional, extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and approachable. He was happy to answer any question that my wife or I had and gave a lot of useful suggestions. John was also able to get the report completed and delivered on a tight schedule. You will get more than what you pay for here."

"<p>I am having to amend my outstanding review of Multi-Spec based on issues that developed during my first year.  The report indicated my wood stove was satisfactory but after using it the first month I realized it burned much too hot.  Discovered it only had a single wall and was placed too close to the wall/furniture.  It was dangerous to use so replaced it and moved the location.  The report also indicated my original  clay tile roof was satisfactory with one cracked tile at the front and some sealing needed at the rear rubber.  After a couple attempts to repair serious leaking in my bay window a couple months ago, it was discovered I had cement tiles that were 20-25 years old. Additionally there were gaps that permitted water to seep through and the paper/plywood was rotted.  Cost of repair was $6,500 for the small back section only.  Decided to bite the bullet and replace the entire roof because of the uncertainty.  The roof needed 44 new sheets of plywood and cost $38,500.  </p>"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Springdale, PA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
