"Based on Angie's List ratings and visiting Bockrath's, it was obvious that this was the company to install my vinyl flooring. Doug Bockrath, the owner, was very helpful in determining what flooring would be best for this project. The installers, Matt and Mike Youngerman, were professional, timely, neat, and exceeded my expectations. They actually needed to spend an additional day on the install to correct an old issue and went out of their way to make sure everything was going to be a top notch installation. I could not be any happier with the expertise, knowledge, and professionalism shown by everyone associated with Bockrath. I highly recommend them for your flooring needs!"

"We’re very happy with the new carpeting we bought from the Levi’s 4 Floors store in Blacklick. Jeff did a great job steering us to a stain-resistent carpet with a cushioned pad. He was great to work with. And the installers were very professional."

"From start to finish I had a pleasant experience with this company. I was recommended by a friend to check it out. I spoke with a rep who sent home samples of items so we could decide which color worked best. I chose what I would like and an estimate was sent over. Considering the quality of the carpeting I chose, the estimate was spot on. It took approximately two weeks to get the carpeting ordered and in. After the installation, I noticed a few nails that were not nailed down. I contacted the store and the owner himself came out and went around all the edges to insure it was properly fixed. I am done installing carpet and flooring in my home but recently had them out to my mother's home to measure for some new carpet to be laid in her home. I would recommend them over and over again.

"Carpet was very high quality. Installers took their time to make sure carpet was installed right. I could not see any seems when complete. Home Depot personnel visited the subcontractors during the installation to make sure things went well. They also called afterward to check to see if we were satisfied. Personnel in the store also provided several names of individuals to contact if we had issues/problems. We were very pleased with all facets of the project: cost, timeliness of delivery and quality of installation."

"Chuck and Chris were extremely professional and they worked HARD -- finishing the whole job in a day, except for one part of the stairs where we had ordered extra edging on the carpet. As a result, the carpet needed to be sent back to a processing facility. McSwain's was prompt about scheduling the follow-up installation, just a few days later. We were a bit taken aback by the price, but my wife and I feel the end result is worth it. Thanks!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Springfield, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
