"Ahmad solved the problem and showed me more about the circuits in my garage. I asked him back to replace older problematic fluorescent ceiling light units with LED units, and they all work great! He also recommended adding whole-house surge protectors which make us feel more secure. Finally, he replaced a GFCI at an outdoor fountain. Ahmad is very knowledgable, smart, safe, and helpful."

"I was referred to Kolb Electric by my home warranty service. There were two issues, both in the bathroom: 1. The light fixture did not work. I had changed the bulb but still no light. Could not determine the issue on my own so I contacted an electrician. 2. One of the two plugs on the outlet did not work. The latter issue was relatively easy to resolve. The repair person happened to have a GFI receptacle and was able to replace. He noted that the cost was normally $30 + tax for the part but he did not charge me. The reset had broken on the other one. With the former issue, the technician was taking a very long time (more than 30 mins) to diagnose the problem. His conclusion was that i needed a new fixture entirely. The one I had was a T12 ballast fixture and he recommended a T8 ballast fixture. I asked him to explain the rationale as well as the difference between the two. He didn't provide a very thorough or clear explanation, except to repeatedly say that I needed a new fixture. In reality, what he was recommending was a new striplight--not a new fixture. [Note: I purchased a new T8 light strip from Amazon for a whopping $16.45.] When I asked if he was able to make this repair, he noted that he had to contact my home warranty service to get approval. I could not recall immediately if my home warranty covered parts, etc. I looked through my files for a copy of the policy while he spoke with the home warranty service via phone. He shared with me that he'd now been at my home for more than an hour, and there would be charges for subsequent time. [Note: He was on the phone with the home warranty company from 8:49 am - 9:20 am.] I asked him how he'd calculated that, since it had been less than an hour, and he said that he included the time it took him to find parking. Even now, nearly two years later as I write this, I still can't believe he actually said that. If every repair or service person charged their customers in DC for time they search for parking, no one would ever be able to afford a repair service. This is a major metropolitan city and you're arriving during the AM rush hour (arrived at 7:40 am). As he spoke (allegedly) to the warranty company, presumably his dispatcher/supervisor and me, he kept changing the cost to stay--from $246 to $305 to $185 (for the fixture alone) to $270. At this point, I decided to wrap up our interaction, and told him I'd be in touch if I needed him (which I never would). I gave him a check for $75--the cost per the warranty company for the visit. In the end, I never called him or Kolb back. It took 2 more electricians to diagnose the problem (see my POSITIVE review of A Action Home Services). In the end, it wasn't the fixture at all. A neutral connection had to be repaired. Once that was fixed, and a new bulb installed, ta-da: light! I'm being generous with my rating mostly because he did fix the plug.

"Excellent. James has been providing electrical services for us for five years+. All of his work was completed as promised, on time, and NEVER had to be redone. We would never have anyone else provide electrical service for us. His next assignment from us will be to move our dining room chandelier and upgrade outlets in our garage."

"My roof issues stem from solar panel installation. The installers damaged several shingles, including roof vent shingles, and upon my complaint did an awful job trying to patch it. I called American Home Contractors for a survey of the damage, and they sent out Isiah, who did a phenomenal job. He wrote up a very excellent report detail all of the damage and repairs needed to bring my roof back to its original condition. He supplied me with clear pictures of everything, and took time to explain everything to me so that I could understand the estimate. I feel much better now knowing exactly what damage was done to my roof, and that I can rely on Isiah and American Home Contractors to restore my roof back to its original condition. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend AHC for your next roof repair."

"I hired Salone Solutions through Qmerit, Electrify America's nationwide network of local contractors to install the Electrify America L2 home charger for electric vehicles. I work for Electrify America and was going to receive my 9.6 kW wifi-enabled, app-operated charger soon and needed a NEMA 14-50 (240V) outlet installed in my garage to plug the wall box into. I selected SaloneSolutions from three vendor quotes that Qmerit provided. When evaluating the bids, Les Salone, the owner, called me directly and discussed his offer addressing all the questions I had. Because his quote was very competitive and he had the quickest availability to get the job done, I selected Les. On the day of the install a week or so later, Chris, the electrician, showed up right on time. We discussed how he was going to do the install. He accommodated my wish to run part of the wire behind the wall to minimize the amount of armored cable visible on the surface of my garage wall. This was a more elaborate process and required cutting open the dry wall. Chris did a very clean and expert job putting the cut-out back in the wall afterwards. This made it very easy for me to mud and paint over afterwards for an absolutely clean and seamless looking installation. He tested the new outlet, showed me how it was working, and wrapped up the job in less then 90 minutes. When the day later coincidentally my drier stopped working and I called Les to ask if this could possibly have anything to do with the installation of the 50 amp circuit breaker for my EV charger in the fuse box, Les sent Chris back out the very next day to double-check. Turns out it had nothing to do with the install and was just pure coincidence. The circuit breaker of the drier had failed and needed to be replaced. Chris went above and beyond and took care of that for me on the spot. I will use them again next time I need an electrician and can only highly recommend SaloneSolutions to anyone else as well."
