Historical home required rotten wood replacement ? numerous locations around the house require replacement or repair of external wood siding, trim work - excellent workmanship very happy with work performed.

External Paint  sanding (prep) ? wet sanding of the home went quickly and very clean  - superb workmanship very happy with work

External Paint tape (prep)- this is where the project was very slow and time seem to take forever to complete ? 2 weeks of taping .

"Based on Angie's List recommendations, we asked Bauhaus Construction for a quote to replace three exterior doors at the house in Storrs, CT. Oliver Beer responded immediately. When he evaluated the doors, we told Oliver that we were planning to sell; would his company be able to paint, on a separate contract?

Yes, they could, and would. Our door replacement task morphed into a gorgeous facelift for the whole place, inside and out.

Oliver is a creative thinker with impeccable standards and elegant, practical solutions to ready our house for market. He discussed his suggestions in detail, describing various alternatives and their likely outcomes. There are a number of houses already on the market in our area; he hoped to help ours sell quickly, at a fair price.

We stayed in the house with our dog, while Bauhaus Construction people worked around us, for about three weeks. The doors were replaced first, well, and quickly. When Oliver discovered that none of the interior walls / trim had been primed, he was understandably distressed. This meant considerably more time and supplies, but he soldiered on, taking the time to remove all hardware, switchplates, outlet covers, thermostats, etc., prior to plastering, taping, priming, and otherwise prepping the walls and trim for a quality, lasting paint job.  His ceiling man sprayed all of the (flat) ceilings in a short time, with excellent results. Carpets were pulled up and removed to the onsite dumpster in a couple of hours. We were particularly impressed with Oliver's organizational skills and outstanding personal work ethic. He is trustworthy, sensible, well-experienced, and careful. He and his people cleaned up after themselves every day.

Additionally, it was a relief for us that Oliver did not object to having our dog, Enzo, in the house. In fact, Enzo soon fell in love with Oliver, watching every morning for Oliver's truck, then running out the door to greet his new friend. We suspect that Enzo preferred Oliver to us!

When it was time to refinish the hardwood floor, we left the Storrs house in Oliver's capable hands, to return to our new house out-of-state. Every day since, he has provided either telephone or photographic updates. The place looks much better than brand-new!

We highly recommend Bauhaus Construction / Oliver Beer for excellent, careful, quality work by meticulous, skilled craftsmen who take the time to do a job properly. He is an exacting perfectionist in all aspects of his- and his people's - work.

"I was on vacation when the gutter was installed. My daughter was home and stated that everything seemed to go fine, however they cleaned up nothing. They put the new gutter up and left; she had to go out and clean up my driveway of screws and dubris. She said had she driven into the drivway as they left it, she would have gotten a flat tire.Clean up is all part of the job, and I feel a very important part. I would not use company again nor would I recommend based on that

"I contacted Home Facelifters to remove a small concrete barrier from my garage, to repair the porch at the end of my house that was developing cracks and holes around the foundation, and to perform a couple of handyman tasks (replace a doorknob and replace smoke detectors). Joe replied to my inquiry and came out to give me an estimate within a couple of days of when I contacted him. When he and his crew started working on the porch repair they found that the problems were much more extensive than originally anticipated. The porch was actually pulling away from the house, and as the crew started to work on the porch they found a couple of large cracks running the length of the foundation under the floor of the porch, making it unsafe. It was clear to all of us that the porch would have to be replaced. Joe quickly came up with some estimates and found a solution to retain the roof over one end of the porch. He proposed replacing the porch with a new deck. The crew supported the roof on the side of the porch and removed the underlying porch and the concrete slabs. They dug holes for new piers and footing and poured concrete. It was also discovered there was some old (not active) termite damage on the lower side of the house where the new deck would be attached (this was damage that was treated when I bought the house 16 years ago so it was no longer active but the bottom portion of part of that side of the house had to be repaired and reshingled). During the entire process Joe was great about communicating the latest set-back and keeping me up to date on additional expenses. In the end the crew built a beautiful new deck with railings up to code. The job was much more complicated than what I originally anticipated and ended up being more expensive but was necessary. I may have been able to get the work done elsewhere for slightly less money but I do not know that I would have received the same quality craftsmanship. Joe and his assistant were great to work with throughout the process. They communicated clearly about when they were going to show up and about the progress of the work. They worked long days, often after dark, in freezing cold weather but finished most of the work as quickly as possible. There are still a couple of things left to be done (painting and building stairs to the deck) but those things have to wait until warmer weather. This is the second time I have used Home Facelifters for a major project at my home, and I highly recommend them."
