"Smart Tile was quick to respond to my request to have my granite counter tops cleaned & sealed. We setup a date and time to have the work done. I was called earlier in the day to confirm our appointment. Lorenzo was on time and started working immediately after he took a look at what was needed to be done. He was very courteous, friendly and paid close attention to detail. Lorenzo protected the floors with mats to ensure that the cleaner and sealer would not drip onto the kitchen floor. After he was done, my counter tops looked the same as the day they were installed. He also answered any questions that I had regarding the continued maintenance for my granite counter tops. Lorenzo was professional at all times and I could tell by the way that he worked he is an experienced craftsman. I would definitely use Smart Tile for any granite/tile work that I may need in the future."

"Top Woodwork, true to it’s name, offers top quality custom designed woodwork along with a hassle-free professional customer experience. They fabricated a custom built-in vanity for me that was built with custom inlay to match existing woodwork, to-spec and with high quality material. Their price was also very competitive. I really appreciate the 3D rendering they provided before the contract was signed that offered professional insight into alternative space-saving ideas. Overall, I could not be happier with Top Woodwork and hope I have an opportunity to work with them in the future."

"A shoutout to Jay, of Highend Design, who did an EXCELLENT job installing a new lock system on my 75 year old main door and repairing an old wooden basement door and installing a deadbolt. The anticipated few minutes installing two locks turned to a few hours. It was a pleasure working with a genuine professional for once, instead of the many scammers out there. Thank you, Jay. Thank you. Angi.?"

Well I just like to say It was an absolute pleasure to deal Ty Salazar the president of On The Level Design and Construction.

His staff was courteous and a very helpful,  the helped me from start to finish choosing the cabinetry, the fixtures, tile and spent there time helping me choose the paint colors.

The installed a beautiful new roof and took care of the old leaks

In the interim I was away at my summer home and felt very comfortable and safe leaving my home unattended while they did their work.

They were on time, clean and respectful.  Ty and his staff made sure that if any issue arose they took care of it right away.  They scheduled all deliveries in to coincide with the project efficiently.

The electrician and plumber did top notch work efficiently and right the first time.

I'm going to miss Ty and his crew I enjoyed having them around and very thankful for the great work

FAQs for laminate countertops installation projects in Staten Island, NY

With the right care and a professional installation, laminate counters last 10 to 15 years. Wipe up spills quickly, clean with a nonabrasive product, and keep hot pots off the surface to prevent warping or scorch marks. Limiting prolonged moisture at seams also pays off. Your installer can walk you through simple maintenance habits that will help you squeeze every year out of your new counters.

Yes—if the existing laminate is solid and level, a pro can bond a fresh sheet right on top. They’ll rough up the old surface, apply the correct adhesive, and make precise cuts so the new layer sits tight. Skipping steps can lead to bubbles or weak seams, so this project is best left to an experienced installer who has the tools to deliver a clean, durable finish.

Absolutely, you can give tired laminate a facelift with paint, tile, or a concrete overlay instead of a full tear-out. The key is thorough prep: clean, degrease, and lightly sand so the new finish sticks.

Follow the product instructions for primer, sealers, and cure times, or hire a pro if you’d rather avoid the mess. When done correctly, these updates freshen the look and add a few more years of useful life.

Mix baking soda with just enough water to form a paste, then spread it over the stain and let it sit for five minutes. Wipe away with a soft, damp cloth—don’t scrub, as abrasives can dull the surface. Repeat if needed. For stubborn marks, ask your installer about cleaners made specifically for laminate.

Laminate isn’t built to battle the elements. Water, UV rays, and temperature swings quickly cause swelling, fading, and mold. Even a covered patio won’t protect the material for long. If you’re planning an outdoor kitchen or bar, skip laminate and choose a weather-tough option like stone, tile, or concrete so you don’t end up replacing your counters after the first season.

Traditional laminate isn’t the greenest choice. Most sheets rely on plastics like melamine and can emit trace VOCs over time. They also can’t be recycled at the end of their life. A few brands now use recycled pulp cores, but plastics still make up much of the product.

If sustainability tops your list, consider natural or recyclable materials such as solid wood, stone, or recycled glass instead.
