"Excellent workmanship and attention to detail.  Diamond was very professional and provided great communication throughout the entire process from coming out to give the estimate through completion of the job.  I consider myself to be a stickler for quality and they met all my expectations.  The job was exactly at the estimated price which was lower than the other estimates and this included a few minor last minute changes.  We are very pleased and would highly recommend Diamond Paving. <br />"

"This is a large (2900 sq feet) drive, and I had the front half, the part visible from the street, stamped and colorized to look like brick. There was a problem in that they found a mud pit under the lowest part of the old drive and had to dig out 4 truckloads of mud and bring in stone.  This cost additional money, which I was not prepared for, but the company and I worked out a professional and workable agreement that allowed the job to complete.  The biggest issue is that the new drive is beautiful and really higher quality that I see in the other neighborhood driveways.  For example, my old drive tapered to very thin asphalt at the edges and this caused cracking.  A truck drove across the drive, slipped onto the lawn, and a three foot section of the old drive just broke off.  The new drive has full depth all the way to the edges, with a chanfered (45 degree angle) edge, that is stronger, and when re-landscaped, will stay good for decades. The final product is the envy of my neighbors and I am very happy with it."

"We had a bad winter storm with high winds. Many of the asphalt shingles flew off the garage roof and we needed a quick replacement of the roof because more winter storms were forecasted. Jim at A Plus Handyman gave us a very good estimate and despite bad weather, he was able to replace the roof quickly and weatherize it before the interior of the garage was damaged. He was super nice to deal with, responsive, affordable with quality work. Would definitely do business with him again!!"

"Basement (approximately 1200 sq ft) was completed in year (2015). Finished basement comprised of 3 rooms and bathroom. We continue to have plumbing problems until this year. Initially a whistling noise in the pipes was said to be air in the pipes. After being told that the problem was air in the pipes and how to fix it, we tried to no avail to clear the problem. ABHI's plumber came out to observe and he informed us that a piece needed to be installed. Javier, the owner, told us that to repair the problem, we would have to pay more money but that he would split the cost with us. We contacted WSSC. They came out and adjusted something on the piping-free of charge. We contacted ABHI again with another plumbing issue at the installed commode which bubbled and made noises and gave off nauseous gassy fumes at the commode and bath tub when the washing machine was running. When speaking with Javier, we were told that the plumbing was inspected and passed and therefore the additional problems that we are experiencing would be an additional charge to repair. This hardly sounds like it should be the case when none of these problems existed prior to ABHI's plumber finishing the bathroom. Finally, Javier sent a plumber to our home to correct the problem this year and once the work was complete told the plumber to bill us for the work. This despite the fact that these problems only existed from the time ABHI completed the work. This is very unprofessional that Javier would approve work to be done on our home, without notifying us that the expense would be ours. Again, we only found out at the completion of the work what the cost was and that we were going to be asked to pay for it. The plumber still has not been paid in full. Additionally, communication was a continuous problem throughout the project which lasted approximately 5-6 months as opposed to the 2-3 months originally projected. The electrical, framing, drywall, and flooring were completed satisfactorily. Also, when we purchased items for the project (eg. bathroom vanity), Javier was willing to reduce our price by the budgeted allotment for the items since he did not have to make the purchases. All prospective clients: Be very cautious about this company because all fees may not be included in your given price if you experience similar problems after you have made final payment."

"We had a very complex front door to install and On the Level did a superior job -- the quality of the work was superb, the price was more than fair, and all of the work was completed in a timely manner. Peter did a great job communicating through out the process --we would hire them again."

"Thank you so much to Gator Paving! My husband is deployed right now in Afghanistan. We are trying to get our house ready to sell. I don't know anything about paving. We wanted to get our driveway paved before listing our house. Chris, the owner, was super nice and explained everything in detail. The office staff was great and really helpful. Every time I called I got a live person. If I had to leave a message with the answering service after hours they called me back the next morning. They gave me a list of references. They were not pushy. One of the other company's I got a quote from kept asking me what my lowest price was and that they would beat it. I don't think the other company cared much about what I needed done. Gator was not the lowest nor the highest. The work crew was great. The men were very nice and it took them no time to get everything all done. With all of the things we've had done to the house lately I been working with a lot of contractors and Gator Paving by far has been one of the best to deal with. I had a good experience! Thank you again! <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Stephens City, VA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
