"Lou and his crew were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They removed and replaced an old deck with composite material and new decorative skirting and stairs. We couldn’t be happier with the finished deck and would absolutely recommend Perfectview Remodeling."

"I recently hired Empire Remodeling to convert a closet into a laundry room. This job turned out to be a much more involved project than was originally thought. It was a job that most companies would probably have walked away from, but Al stuck with it, worked tirelessly and got it done. He went above and beyond and all of his crew members were very pleasant and hard working. They did a great job I will definitely be hiring him for future jobs in my home "

"Unfortunately I give BBB a 1 star rating. The project began October of 2021 with demolition, upon completion of each phase I sent an email to Better Built Basement management thanking them for their work effort and identifying items that either required further explanation and/or resolution. As the project went on, I became increasingly frustrated with their lack of communication, lack of accountability, lack of caring, and lack of skill. The straw that broke my back was when Jim (an owner) called me a f’ing c’sucker. Randy, (an owner) sent me the following email: No one has time to read your 3-page condensing e-mails. You have done nothing but complaint. It's obnoxious and draining to everyone you come in contact with. There isn't one person who cant wait to have you out of our lives. I terminated Better Built Basements on June 7th, 2022, here are some of the details of my experience: - The demo crew was excellent in and out in a day and did a great job cleaning up - The electricians were very consultative in their approach to the project, providing input on lighting and outlet placements. - Framing was mediocre. Despite using laser equipment, one wall was wavy and the ceiling grid has a large gap. Pictures attached. - New steel stud framing and pre-hung doors should be dead on straight as an arrow instead, two of the doors has an aesthetically noticeable skew. - The replacement to an existing door resulted in using the wrong hinge set for the existing mortices, inclusive of color – all the other hardware is brass they used chrome. Picture attached. - 3 of the four doors were either chipped or cracked. BBB was notified before the ‘final’ paint job, but they failed to address the issue. - I returned home the day they applied joint compound to find glops of joint compound on the floor, which I tracked around my house, and glops on wood work on a floor where no work was occurring. Pictures attached - Following the flooring installation, they left garbage in my basement for 2.5 weeks, then did not take it when they came back – in frustration I disposed of it myself. - Many of joints on the ¼ round trim molding were caulked excessively to cover up sloppy miters. - Cracked switchhplate was not replaced. Picture attached. - Sub-contractors have sub-contractors, who seem to be able to sub contract – direct employees of BBB other than the demo and electrical were rare. BBB demands using a lock box, Many people have the combination, providing little sense of security over access to the home. Overall, BBB does a bad job communicating, managing expectations and fails to deliver on their stated objectives at best they are contractors not craftsman."

At SFA you will find second-to-none service and high quality flooring options at a cost that will make you smile. It all started in 1992, when Wayne and Maxine Schneider purchased a Professional Carpet Systems franchise based in Atlanta. The business grew rapidly and soon began offering flooring products and services. Business continued to grow through a customer focused effort. In August 2002, America's Carpet Gallery merged with FA and became part of the most successful flooring co-op in America, CCA Global Partners. During this time the family owned business changed its name to Schneider's Flooring America. \n\nIn November 2002, SFA purchased the former Frank's Nursery building on Route 83 in Vernon. Schneider's Flooring America is now a Fashion Showplace, carrying all types of Carpet, Hardwood, Laminate, Ceramic Tile and Vinyl flooring. SFA has a team of employees who are fully trained and the focus has been and will always be, to provide our customers with outstanding service and value. "John Balayan, the owner of Arakelian Rugs, is truly amazing! We called Arakelian Rugs after a disastrous spill on our oriental rug that resulted in red splatters in a large section of the rug. John not only immediately contacted us, he also came right out to see if it would even be possible to repair the damage. We are truly amazed that the team at Arakelian was able to restore our rug - we cannot even see any remnants of the stain! John gave us a timeframe for each step of the process and kept in touch with us throughout. We then had several other rugs cleaned at very reasonable prices. The rugs were picked up, delivered, and placed. We also purchased new padding which makes such a difference. We are truly grateful to the entire team at Arakelian Rugs for such professional and outstanding service."

"We are at the beginning stages of our kitchen remodel, but the staff at Floor Decor spent a lot of time with us planning, designing and pricing to meet our needs and budget. I highly recommend Janine Geneste and the staff for countertop, backsplash and flooring needs. Jen Hayes"

"Phil Catanzaro was great to work with from start to finish. I appreciated him checking in before, during, and after the project. Requesting the quote and scheduling the work was seamless, and the crew was friendly, fast, efficient, and skilled. I will definitely recommend them to my friends and neighbors, and will reach out to them again for any future work."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Storrs Mansfield, CT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
