"Kevin came promptly at the appointed time. He was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in carpet selection. He recommended a few carpets for the area that we wanted and was very helpful in feedback in what would look good in that room. The installers came promptly to install it and a tile was accidently broken by the fireplace during installation. They quickly fixed it and the manager called me along with coming to look at the repair. What impressed me was the courtesy which was extended to me by the team and Hubie during this entire process, great old fashioned service. I'd highly recommend them and won't hesitate to call when we need more flooring."

"Carpet Source performed quality work in a timely manner.  We had contract pricing, so the prices were set based on volume.  The prices were always very reasonable. Even better than the reasonable rates were the customer service, the quality of work, and the reliability.  Scott is a pleasure to work with and extremely understanding of the Property Management business, so he always understood the importance of quick and timely work getting done.  I would recommend Carpet Source for all your carpeting needs. <br />"

"John responded to us quickly, and came out within a couple of days to review the job with us. He did an excellent job of installing both the bathroom tile floor and shower surround including two alcoves, and an accent tile strip. Everything was well measured and set well. He spent 4 days completing the job, and addressed questions or requests to change something very quickly. Overall, his price was very reasonable. Definitely would hire again!"

"We did not go with them because we found a better price, but we were pleased with how quickly they came and did the estimate. I appreciate their small independent company. They were just very helpful in giving information on how to deal with carpeting damaged by water and how to treat the floor. They were just very informative and knowledgeable. They gave us good tips."

"We have been a customer of H&R Carpets for over 25 years.  They have installed new carpeting and floors and have done numerous upgrades.  In all of the installations, their workmanship has been perfect.  They are so good; we've never had to call them back to fix a purchase.  Their staff is great and always willing to help you with your choices, matching up your designs and providing very reasonable costs.  Two of their staff members, Terry and Brenda, have been a pleasure to work with - funny, helpful and always willing to explain what works and what doesn't and how to make the best choices."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Stoughton, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
