"Plumber Cameron Opuda from Michael & Sons Services took on a difficult and overdue sewer fix for Dad. Mr. Opuda had a can do attitude and was super at the turn around time. Great communication from the company as well. Aside: Lesson learned for Dad, never plant trees above any kind of buried lines. They can crush anything. Michael and Sons are not the cheapest rates in town, but the solid reputation with the Home Advisor proved solid. I think the price should be $3500 for a sewer line replacement on a quarter acre, as a standard, but the competition did not have as good a track record and they took many weeks to get back to me on requests. "We had a collapsed sewer line in the middle of the yard, presumably caused by soil/root settling after the earthquake. They came out for an estimate the day after we called and were the cheapest of 3 estimates we had. They started the next day. Then they did not work 2 days due to rain, and did not work the weekend because they do not work weekends. There were a few problems along the way - some of which weather related, some of which due to broken tools and other issues they had... all causing it to take longer than we had hoped (took 1.5 weeks total, but most evenings they hooked up a temporary line for use). The biggest complaint in the end (other than having no sewage for this time) was that they didn't use a plastic tarp to dump the extraction dirt onto, so additional grass damage occurred. However, they did seed/hay afterwards, which will resolve that problem over time (after it warms up)."

"Long story short ,I waited 3 days for Gene's to evaluate the clogged main sewer drain in my basement. After evaluation, the plumber decided he needed to use an auger to unclog the main sewer drain. Instead of starting the process immediately he informed me that he didn't have an auger on the truck. This unfortunate incident caused me 4 days of shop vacuuming sewage out of my basement simply because he had more pressing jobs that day and it would have taken him over an hour to retrieve the auger and return to my home. He made it clear that it would have been an inconvenience. This caused me to vacuum sewage 4 additional days and caused further water and sewage damage to my finished basement. Four days after the assessment, Gene's Plumbing sent out a different plumber, and he was able to fix the clogged sewer drain that day."

He was professional and efficient, explained things carefully and cleared the drain. He did the work, remounted the toilet, and cleaned the area. They will also be sending another technician with a camera to examine the cast iron line to see if more needs to be done."
