Established in 2016, J&A Plastering is a proud local family business. We are proud to serve each and every valued customer across the Valley of the Sun. When you hire us, you can expect a high level of expertise, craftsmanship, and a company that will always stand behind it's work!

"We used J&A to resurface our home. We had a rough stucco finish. We had J&A make the finish smooth. J&A did a wonderful job. Daniel was very responsive and attentive to our needs. The work was done sooner than we expected. And it looks great. After the work was complete we did find some areas that needed attention. Daniel was again very prompt and took care of all the issues without issue. I would highly recommend this company for any of your stucco/plastering needs."

I specialize in all cabinetry, refacing, installation, respray, and resurfacing. I also do anything from ceiling fan installation to tv mounting. I've been in business for over 3 years, I am a man of my word and treat your home like it is mine.

"Unfortunately our experience with Ray was not a pleasant one and this review is being posted to make sure people are aware of the type of work he provides.  We hired Ray on February 03, 2025 after walking him through our home and showing him the work we wanted done prior to us moving in. The requested items were to:  1. Paint the inside of the house which he quoted us at $1000 2. Replace baseboards throughout the house for $500 3. Remove double doors in the master bedroom that led to another bedroom and close up that space for $10004. Install kitchen cabinets for $3000 5. Do some work on the patio such as paint and trim for $500.   The total came in at $6000, this price was for labor only. We agreed we would provide all the materials he needed to complete the work. He asked for a deposit of 50% but we ended up giving a deposit of $2500 in good faith to begin the work. Two weeks into the contract, we noticed that the work was not getting done as quickly as Ray had promised he would have it completed. We had given Ray a key to come in as needed since we weren't living in the home yet. However, we found that he sometimes wouldn't show up to the house and we would have to reach out for an update. He had gotten sick but he said he would work over the weekend and at night if need be in order to have the work completed by the time we needed to move in. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and continued to work with him. The following week we again saw very little progress, when we asked for an update Ray was reluctant to provide one. We informed him that we would need some communication in order to reassure ourselves that the work will get done. 3 weeks into the contract and the only work that had been completed was a closed off wall, some paint in the 3 of the bedrooms and the 4th bedroom was mostly untouched.  In order to speed things up before our move in, we hired another contractor to start on the kitchen (line item #3). We informed Ray this was happening and listed out what we needed him to complete before we moved in. He agreed but once again the amount of hours he put into his work were minimal, he would show up for 1-3 hours a day. He also started to take some of his tools home, saying he didn't need them to complete the work he was doing on the home.  Over the weekend of March 1st, we ended up moving in with some of the bedrooms uncompleted. We spent the weekend painting part of the house we would be occupying so we could move our things in without getting paint on them.  Ray showed up to work and started to paint another part of the house but the following day (a Friday) he didn't show up. We texted him if he was going to come to the house and he responded with a question, asking if it was raining outside, implying it was too humid to paint.  Even though there was still plenty of work to do such as the baseboards and small other items he agreed to do to make up for the fact that we painted 1/3 of the house. This brings us to the week of March 10th, 5 weeks later from the date we hired him and he still hadn't completed line items 1 & 2. He showed up to work the following week, completed 2 baseboards and left after just two hours of work, leaving work uncompleted and took the remainder of his tools without saying a word.  We messaged Ray 2 more times, to try to reach an amicable agreement on the work that was left undone. We asked for a partial refund but the only response we received was that he did other work not listed on the invoice. We asked for him to elaborate on this work and he did not respond. We also still haven't received our house key.             "

FAQs for traditional stucco install or completely replace projects in Sun City West, AZ

Dryvit pricing hinges on three things: your home’s square footage, the layout’s complexity, and the finish you pick. Because those variables differ from house to house, contractors quote Dryvit on a per-project basis rather than a flat rate. Ask a licensed installer for a detailed estimate and breakdown of materials and labor. Professional installation is crucial—done right, Dryvit resists cracking and delivers the long-term energy efficiency it’s known for.

Keep stucco looking sharp by rinsing it with a garden hose a few times a year and walking the exterior for hairline cracks. Skip high-powered pressure washers—they can force water behind the finish. Start hosing at the bottom, work upward, and let gravity rinse the wall clean. If you spot cracks or chips, seal them right away to block moisture. Quick fixes and gentle cleaning go a long way toward preserving color and structure.

Think of stucco as a full-service siding and parging as a quick jacket for your foundation. Stucco covers entire walls, adds curb appeal, and offers some insulation. Parging is a thin coat on the lower portion of a masonry wall that mainly seals out moisture and pests. It’s protective, not decorative. If you need a complete exterior finish, go with stucco; if you just need to shore up a foundation, parging does the trick.

Stucco’s biggest enemies are moisture and movement. Water that seeps behind a poorly sealed wall can cause stains, bubbling, mold, and the white powder called efflorescence. Shifting soil or impact can crack the surface, letting in even more moisture. Catch small cracks early and keep sealant lines intact to head off bigger repairs. A quick yearly inspection and prompt patching usually keep these issues from snowballing.

In harsh climates, synthetic stucco—or EIFS—usually outperforms traditional mixes. The layered foam-and-finish system sheds water, flexes with temperature swings, and resists cracking better than cement-based stucco. You’ll pay a premium up front, but the added durability can cut future repair bills and improve energy efficiency. Ask a local pro which formulation handles your region’s heat, cold, or heavy rain the best.

If stucco isn’t the right fit, you have plenty of other siding choices. Vinyl is usually the budget pick and needs minimal upkeep. Fiber-cement and engineered wood blend durability with a wood-grain look. Brick or stone veneer costs more but delivers classic curb appeal and great longevity. Metal—including steel and aluminum—stands up well to fire and insects. Compare costs, maintenance needs, and local climate before settling on the best match for your home.
