"After purchasing an Angie's List Deal, I received the measuring kit in the mail promptly. The template and instructions provided to draw my split table top and each of the leaves were easy to use and understand. I mailed the completed materials and received the table pads very quickly. The table splits in the middle to allow insertion of up to 3 additional leaves. The table also has 2 drop leaves. That's 7 pads. All fit perfectly. I have used them on the table for family parties (not every day) and they're durable and built to last. I keep them in the box they arrived in to protect them when not in use. These are a worthwhile investment."

"We hired Juan to build outdoor privacy shutters for our patio to give us privacy on the patio. Juan was professional and very knowledgeable in his field of construction, keeping me informed throughout the entire process. He does excellent work, is very organized, and the pricing is very reasonable. Juan took care of ordering all of the Trex composite wood, brackets, and hardware to build the outdoor shutters. We couldn't be happier with the completed project and will definitely use his company in the future for further projects."

"Danger, Will Robinson Choose wisely!! Contracting for patio covers in Reno is treacherous. We know and can speak from experience. Even after screening we have suffered significant disappointment, property and financial damages at the hands of 3 different companies. In 2016 we contracted with Forever Awnings for 2 lattice style awnings. They took 50% deposits but we had to terminate them losing our deposits. See our Google review from 2017. Amerimax informed us they stood behind the only other then certified Reno Amerimax installer, Reno Patio, to complete our patios. Another expensive joke. Reno Patio is now gone and thankfully will no longer prey on Reno residents. Lattice awnings have disadvantages. The shade is only partial protection from sun and heat. Winter snowfalls accumulate subjecting the awning footprint to prolonged alternating dripping and icing on walkways with daily melting and freezing. Even though we had been burned, we decided to convert one awning to a solid roof. We used All Out Companies. But like our previous experiences they sent out subcontractors. We learned the workmen had no previous experience. No surprise, we had leaks along the unsealed panel seams. We had to repair the leaks ourselves. We were hesitant to convert our remaining 10 x 35-foot lattice awning to solid but with the lattice issues we decided to try again. Like before there was a range of contractors. Some did not return calls. Some came to inspect the job but did not submit a quote. Some came out telling us we did not need a building permit (red flag raised), relatively uninterested in engineering or material choices, with prices ranging from very high to moderate. All wanted a 50% deposit up front (contrary to Contractor Board mandates. See below). Golden Eagle Builders (GEB) was an outlier. The president/owner Adrian Testa is impressive. He personally visits every perspective site, checks the existing engineering if a structure has already been installed, noted altitude which impacts snow load/wind and construction requirements. Adrian was diligent in verifying compliance with now revised building codes. He worked with us and our engineer to check feasibility of converting to a solid roof. He researched all available material options. He provided us the specification sheets showing the strength, etc. offering us choices. He stipulated that a building permit would be obtained (reflecting his emphasis on protecting our investment, his installation, and producing a sound structure). Adrian openly disclosed that the Contractors Board now stipulates that contractors may collect only a 10% deposit. Terms then are 45% at start and the remainder at completion of the job. Every aspect was considered before he decided to bid our job. GEB was not the cheapest quote but remarkably it was not the highest. This is a results-oriented family-owned business whose operations are controlled, directed and orchestrated by its owner, Mr. Testa. Adrian has a limited number of trusted fulltime installers (read as craftsmen) with extensive experience who have the same company mindset; honesty, integrity, attention to details, sweat the details, careful and sound building practices. GEB would never subcontract work, choosing instead to stick with their reliable crews. That means your project will probably not be done quickly because they are in high demand. What it does mean is that if you are offered and accept a quote, when your place in line comes up you can be assured your work will be done as if they were building for themselves or their family. Construction inherently involves unforeseen Issues or challenges but solutions will be found and you can rest assured you are in the best of hands. If you have read this far, you may guess we can recommend Adrian Testa and GEB for your project without reservations. We wish we had found this exceptional comp..."

FAQs for arbor, pergola or trellis custom build projects in Sun Valley, NV

Pergolas and gazebos are both outdoor structures, but there are differences between the two. A pergola has a slatted roof that allows partial sunlight to filter through, creating a light and airy space. In contrast, a gazebo features a solid roof that provides complete shade. This key difference influences the comfort and visual appeal of your outdoor space.

Prefabricated pergola kits require one to four hours of assembly, while custom pergola designs take an average of eight to 16 hours. Additional groundwork, such as pouring a concrete slab, leveling the site, and removing obstructions, may extend the installation process to several weeks, ensuring a secure and long-lasting build.

A standard pergola kit ships with everything you need—four support posts, rafters, top runners, support beams, and hardware for anchoring the frame to a concrete pad. Many manufacturers also bundle add-ons like retractable canopies, privacy screens, or modular sections that let you tweak the footprint. Because each part is pre-cut and labeled, the kit helps you—or your contractor—assemble a sturdy, attractive structure without extra trips to the hardware store.
