"The technicians showed up the next day to give us a quote, and then (once we agreed to the quote) they were able to start work immediately (same day). They installed a chimney cap, sealed two other old chimney pipes (no longer in use), sealed the stone of the chimney itself and also installed a flexible crown seal. It was more than we thought to have done on the chimney, but the peace of mind is worth it. They finished in about 1.5 hours and did a great job. Would hire again."

They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. It is very hard to find craftsman who really care about what they do and also so nice to deal with. South Shore Fireplace will be my go to guys for the rest of my life. "After a couple of attempts of amateur attempts at repairing my chimney leak during heavy wind/rain storms, I've decided that it was time for some professional help to solve this chimney leak. I started searching around on Angieslist and the rest of the internet, and it was quite a long searching process. There are plenty of Chimney companies out there; but Five Star drew my attention. It was the high Ratings, plus a Facebook page that allowed me to see some of their previous work. Speaking with Five Star I sent them over some pictures of my Chimney with a yard stick for in the image as a reference. After couple of email exchanges, they sent me over a quote - which I found to be the respectable in this arena, especially for the work I wanted done, which is replacing the entire chimney. It's a lot of labor! After setting up the appointment, all that was to do is to wait for them and their crew to arrive. The entire process took a few days; starting with the demolition of the old chimney, constructing the new chimney, and finishing the new chimney with a crown, flashing, and water resistance capabilities. One thing I noticed with Pete and his crew is punctuality, on time each day and getting everything ready for work. At the end of this, I have a new chimney that is no longer leaking per the recent rain storm that passed through the area. And all of the old chimney and construction materials are no longer at my house. A warm thanks to Pete and the rest of Five Star Ventilation for replacing my chimney, I am one happy customer!"

"I learned that the flues did not need cleaning, but that there was about 4 feet of flue lining that was missing from the top of the chimney--there are ceramic tiles in there and for whatever reason, 4 ft were missing from the top. They replaced this with a liquid/concrete/solidifying material to seal/line the flues"

"They did a GREAT job! They first ran into permit problems in Brookline, but Rich (?) was able to fix that and didn't charge me extra. Then on the day of the work, they showed up and worked through to the next day and removed the whole chimney from the inside without making a dent in the house. I was MOST impressed with this as I have 2 small children so dust is a big deal to me. Since they are so prompt and efficiently, i was able to coordinate with my roofer to come in on the same day to seal up the roof. At the end of the day, you couldn't even tell that someone had removed a chimney just minutes before. Highly recommended!

"Excellent communication! Perhaps the best I’ve seen from a contractor. While waiting to get installation done, they checked in with me on dates and always called me back if I had questions. The took a look at the roof and suggested fixing the chimney first . We had that capped and some bricks replaced with a contractor they referred. The following week they came and did the roof and leaf gutters in 1 day. They cleaned up very well afterward. When I saw a lose shingle in the yard this spring, I called them and they sent someone out to look right away (it was just an extra shingle). The were great to work with and I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"I selected Bob's Magic Broom based on feedback from Angie's List. Last month, when my furnace was serviced, the serviceman noted that chimney was not drawing as it should and recommended a cleaning. I checked my records and the last cleaning was in 2000. We have two flues - one for the furnace and one for a fireplace which is almost never used. The sweep (Joe) checked and fireplace and agreed it did not need cleaning, but the furnace flue was very bad and almost blocked. The cleaning took about an hour from beginning to end. The sweep cleaned up. I had no mess at all. I asked Joe how often I should have the chimney cleaned and he said about every other year. What I appreciated was that the service was prompt, courteous, and no hard upsell. I would definitely use Bob's Magic Broom again and highly recommend them to all."

"All aspects of the work were executed efficiently, professionally, and with skill. The Shamrock team worked through difficult weather to replace a large, complicated roof. This included the removal and replacement of asphalt shingles, rubber roof, and copper panels. The Shamrock team also replaced cedar shingles on multiple dormers, made repairs to the subroof, replaced many areas of damaged molding, as well a skylight, and several copper and wood gutters. They also designed and installed a custom heating wire system in multiple areas of the roof to prevent ice dams. The installation went very well and we have had absolutely no issues in the month since the work was completed. The Shamrock crew responded to all of my questions and concerns, while working on the job and whenever I contacted them over the phone. As our roof structure is large and very complicated, Patrick and his team took the time to explain all of the options and advantages/disadvantages of different approaches as issues and questions came up.
