Customers say: Quality work

"The job involved removing a course of brick above and below the door opening as well as the angle iron across the top of the opening. The space was re-aligned both above and below. We let things settle for a few weeks with the doors now sliding smoothly once again. During this time Tom's crew used tarpaper to protect the areas of missing brick from the weather. Next new bricks were put in place to finish the opening. They are a perfect match. Since our house has a painted brick exterior, it was necessary to bring in a sample of the brick to get a matching paint color. The first batch of paint was not a close enough match and everyone agreed to not use it. They came back an hour later with a second batch of paint that was a near perfect match. They used this batch to paint the brick to finish the job. They cleaned up the deck and checked with me for a final approval of the job. I was pleased with the results and I would use Tom again on future remodeling projects.

"Apex was the most responsive bid that fit the budget for the project. Work went a little over on timeframe, but this was due in part to unforeseen issues arising from remodeling a project which took an old plaster/lath room down to the studs. Tile took a while, but it was also meticulously done with old walls which weren’t square. The end result was fantastic. It was worth the extra time for the quality work. Overall good experience with consistent communication and no “surprises.” They worked well with me to design the remodel, handle issues and provided quality work. Highly recommended."

"Remodeled kitchen ( removed wall and installed kitchen cabinets & backsplash) remodeled bathroom ( replaced subfloor, install vinyl flooring, new shower head and tub/shower control & tub surround. David is prompt, quick, knowledgeable and very picky about his work. This combination is hard to find in a lot of contractors."

"Great! Marty from advanced restoration and waterproofing was so helpful with the water issues in our basement, he was knowledgeable and didn't use high pressure sale tactics as similar companies do! We discussed different options for our home, as in drains systems inside and out!"

"Everything was handled professionally all the way thru the process. They have 4 additional warehouses you can use for selection of the granite. We ended up using the warehouse down on Sherman Av, and were treated with courtesy and professionalism. Our 2 final selections were also much lower in cost then expected. Just for Granite was substantially lower in overall cost than one of their competitors that advertise cheap prices. And also included the 15 year sealing at no additional cost."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Taylorsville, IN

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
