"They're aren't enough stars to symbolize how good Brown Brothers work really is. Tom was professional, responsive, and very attentive to detail from the first time we talked. His bid came in well under everyone else's, allowing us to get multiple projects done at once. Tom replaced and upgraded our old electrical panel, redid some old wiring, and installed some new outlets and switches in the home we just purchased in Scappoose. He also did it in less time than quoted. When completed, my panel looks like a piece of art....I wish i could post before/after pics. I can't wait to work with Tom when we install the hot tub!"

"I had hired these guys before with a good experience, so I gave it another shot. I know a little too much for my own good, so I had a few questions before the job was done regarding supplies that I needed. I wanted to buy my own materials because I'm nuts. They had no problem with this and told me exactly what kind of wire to buy via text message. Mike was sent over and I explained everything. He needed to fish a lot of wire down under the kitchen floor to the laundry room and then under the finished basement ceiling about 25 feet to the breaker. This guy can fish wire like a boss. He only had to cut 2 holes in my ceiling. I think I'm just going to cover them with access panels for the next time wire needs to be run to the breaker. I like Murphy because everything is easy. I can just book a block of time with fairly transparent pricing and they come by and knock it out. And - they don't give you any problems about having your own materials so an intermediate DIY'er like me can get some specific stuff."

"Upgrading 1924 built home electrical system. Abandoned and replaced antiquated fuse box panel: extended circuits to and updated existing breaker panel. In selecting Woodline Electrical, I was so fortunate that Brandon Neustel was selected to handle my project. Project scheduling was for 7am-4pm. On that date scheduled, Brandon and Joseph pulled up within a minute and was completed around 1-ish!!! Upon reading past project reviews, â Brandon Neustelâ was nearly exclusively called out for his knowledge, transparency and his professionalism! For any future electrical projects, Brandon will be my #1 choice and recommendation! His assistant technician , Joseph ???(understudy) was also most pleasant. Hopefully, he will utilize some of Brandonâ s professional influences for his career!!!"

"I found Steve on angie's list about a few weeks ago. I've already had multiple bids on an a/c unit and filtration system installation and was not quite satisfied with the options offered nor the price. I felt like I could get a better deal. I happened to give Steve a call while he was on vacation. I don't know why he would even answer while he was vacationing, but I'm glad he did. He made it really easy and set up an in-home assessment shortly after he came back. He came to my house with his son and was very personable. He didn't give me any hard pitches or felt like a salesman. They went in, did their assessment and made the process easy. <br> <br>He gave a verbal quote which he committed to when he sent me the written quote several days later. His bid destroyed the competition. I won't name names but a similar authorized dealer offered me a less efficient unit without the filtration system for about $1,500 more. It would have been even higher if they offered the same unit as Steve offered.  <br> <br>Once I accepted his bid, he was able to fit me in his schedule on my day off, three days later. Very quick and efficient, hassle-free. They showed up a little late due to my address being a new development and not in their GPS, but they got in there and started working. Austin, Stephan and Cody were the men who did the installation. All very professional and cleaned up after they finished the job. Everything ran smoothly on the manufacturer's charge. A/C was blasting cool air! After deciding to forego getting A/C last Summer, we knew we couldn't live without it this year. <br> <br>I chose Steve because he was the only guy who told me to spend less money. All the other bids were up-selling. I felt he was genuine, offered competitive pricing and an excellent labor warranty. Thank you Steve and crew for the job. I would highly recommend contacting Steve for an ac bid. <br> <br> <br>"

"Very professional and helpful. We had knob and tube wiring that needed replacing. After being unable to echedule another recommended provider due to their busy schedule, I decided to give Oakley Electric a try. They must have more technicians because they were very responsive and able to take on the work quickly. Very happy with the professionalism of the technicians and their thorough cleanup after the work."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Tigard, OR

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
