"We first hired Deck and Patio to build a new back yard deck with a pergola cover and walkway back in 2015. They showed us pictures from a variety of their past jobs and their references were so impressive that we also hired them to build a stone firepit off the deck, and added accent lighting along the walkway and deck. The finished work was so impressive that we are still (even today) getting comments from guests and even other service people that our back yard is so beautiful, a great place to relax—and they are right. It was not without some glitches along the way—for example, the firepit did not drain off the rain water properly at first. Unpredictable events like this occur with every job, but the difference with this company is that Martin is so attentive and so focused on customer service—they actually stayed with it until the problem was solved, and it has never occurred since. We cannot talk long about Deck and Patio without also referring also to the high level of workmanship and professionalism shown by the work crew. One of these, Charlie Fick, is particularly worthy of comment. A master painter, he takes the time to assess the needs of a job, including not just the color and tone of the paint itself, but the character of the wood and the way it takes the paint. Like Martin, he returns to check the quality of his work and measures it against a high standard. If he is not pleased with the result, he will repeatedly revisit the issue. He told me once that he looks at our place as if it were his own. Finally, our satisfaction with this company is so absolute that we are even discussing a regular program of maintenance in the future for the lighting system, pergola, stonework, and painting. "Using Angie's List, we secured several bids from highly-rated local contractors to complete a few remodel projects in our home. We wanted to replace the backsplash in our kitchen, breakfast area and butler's pantry, change out almost every light fixture in the home and build custom cabinets to increase storage in the mudroom. First met Jim Godre with Remodel Specialists when he came out to look at the work we wanted done. Finally, we had custom cabinets built in the mudroom to provide additional storage. Remodel Specialists' cabinet maker, Andy, is a true craftsman. In constructing the new cabinets for the mudroom, Andy perfectly matched the cabinet style and color in the adjoining laundry room. We were in awe at how great the cabinets look and how functional the space is today. (Thank you Andy!) Based on our experience, we know we made the right decision to engage Remodel Specialists to complete the work in our home. "Rebuilt 800 sq ft deck and 2 pergolas. Adam was always on time and explained what he needed to do for the job. He totally removed the old deck and pergolas and rebuilt both in a very timely manner. He discussed any changes he need to make before hand and made sure that they were OK. At the end of each day he cleaned up the area and bagged all of the trash. The new deck and pergolas are much better than the original and look great! The cost was exactly what he quoted at the beginning of the job.
