"Shay came the same day for an estimate and gave me good advice about upgrading to a new, larger panel. They did a great job at a reasonable price, a pleasure to work with. I would use them again when I have electrical needs."

"Garrett is an upfront, honest, extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy electrician. It is important to have someone you can trust in your home. Very professional. Stop hiring these lowballing "contractors" that are not trained, licensed, or insured. Electrician work is NOTHING to mess around with. You cannot put a price on safety. You will not be disappointed with Bayard Electric."

"Matt did a fantastic job. Chang d a circuit breaker which did not completely fix the problem. Then came back later at night and stated to work through a complex broken in-wall wire problem and fixed it. His rate was very modest and I would super highly recommend him."

"So happy with my experience with DK Electrical. Contacted me quickly to arrange for an estimate and work was scheduled before they left my home after I accepted the price quote. Arrived for the job at the time they stated. They were professional and let me know status as they were completing the work. Coordinated the township inspection. I will definitely contact them again for electrical work."

"This service was great. Alex came to the house to look at the work and checked the general safety of electrical system in the house. It was a lot of work, two guys for the whole day including all the parts. A neighbor promised me that I would be paying for a lot of extras once the bill came in. that certainly wasn't the case. The bill was for exactly what we agreed at the start of the job and the two guys who came were real professionals. They did a really neat job, tidied up a big mess from the previous homeowner and left the area very tidy. They even cut off several unused old cable and telephone lines that I couldn't get to. <br /> The installation passed inspection without any issues. The inspector took off two fuse connectors, but I called Alex who came back and put them back on explaining that the three core wires have to have the fuses connected to each other so that if one fails or is turned off so all power to a socket is off for safety. Plus it's been code since 2004. It's a trivial point, but Alex came back to the site even though we passed inspection. I really appreciated that and the chat we had after. <br /> Princeton electrical makeover will the electrical service I use and recommend. <br />"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Toms River, NJ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
