Customers say: Quick response

"The work done was phenomenal and we couldn't have asked for a better front deck. We had an old rotted, wood front deck that was falling apart and way out of code. They came by, assessed the area with proper measurements, demolished and redid a whole new Trek and vinyl railings front deck. They worked well with my wife and I's desires and we couldn't be happier. Due to Covid, materials took much longer than expected, but once it was all said and done it was worth the wait. Jarci kept in great communication with us and made sure when the materials would come in and what would be done in the project. Definitely would hire again."

Customers say: Quality work

"I had an old refrigerator, microwave and some other things to be removed from my backyard. Robert was the original guy I I contacted. We talked pricing and then arranged a Time for pickup. Vinny was the worker that came out on time I may add he introduced himself and got straight to work it took him about not even 15 minutes to get all the stuff on the trailer. We talked for a bit and he informed me that they were a construction company that also did repairs and to keep them in mind if I ever needed anything which I will I've added them to my contact list. I think Robert and Vinny are phenomenal guys. They were both professional and friendly at the same time. I gave them five stars but that really not enough to describe how they made me feel like a special and valued customer. So this is my personal rating; ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸSatisfaction! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— Friendliness! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ Getting the job done! "

"Dave and Justin replaced our deck and built a screened porch on a portion of the deck. They worked well with our architect and offered suggestions to improve the looks. Not only are we pleased with the results; but, friends were impressed the way the porch looked. If we have any future projects, Ryden Construction would be the first company we would call."

"The job was very well done --built a beautiful deck, very sturdy, and on time doing construction during a very snowy, cold winter! Great people to have around working as well. We would be happy to hire them again."

FAQs for deck or porch projects in Trenton, NJ

To maximize your budget, compare quotes of several builders that fit within your specifications. Donโ€™t be afraid to draw a wider geographic circle if the contractor is willing to travel without charging more. But affordability only matters if you get a quality deck out of it.

Cutting corners or simply finding the cheapest pro could result in significant problems. The materials used may be cheap and rot quickly. The support the surface provides might be unstable and dangerous. Always consider the long-term costs and benefits of quality work. Paying less upfront may actually be more expensive if you consider the cost of repairs.

Deciding on which materials you should use depends entirely on the type of deck youโ€™re looking for. Composite works well for a simple surface exposed to harsh elements, while concrete is the standard choice for many patios. Your decking material options can range from wood to aluminum. Learn about the pros and cons of these materials to make the right decision.

You can build a deck during any season, which is why choosing the right time for this project depends on your preferences:

  • Spring: get your deck ready in time for landscaping and to enjoy it throughout the warmer seasons.

  • Summer: use spring for the planning process, then get the project ready before it gets cold out.

  • Fall: Limit turf or landscape damage by building once most plants begin to recede.

  • Winter: make the excavation process easier, thanks to cold and firm ground.

Many deck builders prefer winter, which is also the season with the shortest waiting queues. Still, other seasons are far from impossible for this type of project.

Expect a thorough examination of the space, and the development of a project schedule. Delivery of materials might already have occurred or could be planned at this point.

Additional research about working with deck builders can help you understand what to expect from experts, and what they expect from you.

Make sure the site of the deck or patio is clear of any landscaping and debris. The contractor will also call a utilities locator service to mark power, water, cable, and other services around the area where they will be digging. The cleaner the area your builder has to work with, the more quickly they can get started. Make sure they have space to park any construction vehicles. Find a dry space for materials that might need storage during the install. Finally, ensure clear access to the site through your house or property.

When it comes to the DIY vs. hire a pro decision for your deck, the answer tends to be clear. Only take it on yourself if you have significant expertise and experience. Without either, you risk building a faulty exterior space, leading to injury risks. Projects built without necessary expertise also break more quickly, making them more expensive in the long run.

If you do want to take on decking as a DIY project, be sure to do your research. Learn about installing the posts and footing for your framing. Understand how to lay decking boards and build the railings and stairs you need for access and security.
