"Straightforward job to install a dedicated 240V circuit for a steam humidifier. The first very positive aspect was responsiveness — Youssef provided a quick estimate over the phone based on photos. His price was very reasonable at $450, and he was able to schedule the work the same week. We expected the job might require opening the wall or removing baseboard, but Youssef skillfully snaked the wire without any damage to the wall or trim. He completed the entire job in about 30 minutes. At one point I mistakenly thought he had quoted $540. He immediately corrected me and confirmed the estimate was $450. On top of his technical skill, he is clearly honest. Highly recommended — we will absolutely call Atlas Electrical Solutions again."

"I had a very disappointing experience with Beacon Home Services. This company charges extremely high prices for even the most basic repairs. I needed a simple leak fixed in my gas water heater?a job that took no more than 10?15 minutes?and the cost was outrageously high. Their customer service was equally frustrating. They were rude, unhelpful, and promised to call me back but never did. The lack of professionalism was obvious at every step. I strongly recommend staying away from this company. Save your money and look for a reputable service provider that values honesty, fair pricing, and respectful communication."

Customers say: Quick response

"I used them back in 2015 and was impressed with them. So I decided to use them again. I was quoted an hours worth of work. Then, when it came to the final bill, was charged for two hours worth of work, and this was with 2 men working the job. They were just replacing 3 pendant lights and 1 dining room light. So I was surprised and disappointed that it took that long. More importantly, one of the workers said something inappropriate to me. It made me feel very uncomfortable and afraid. So I called the owner to tell him what happened. He said he would speak to him. I felt like the owner could have taken me more seriously, been more sympathetic and apologetic about it. He made it sound like he was almost defending him. *** Update on this: The owner did speak with his crew member and said there was a misunderstanding of what he said and apologized for it. However, I know what I heard. Even to the end, it seemed like the owner was still defending him. Either way, I won't be using them again after my experience."

"Had an urgent need to replace my old water heater as it had leaked. Called (on a Sunday) and spoke to Nick, who was very knowledgeable and recommended the right choice of products (I needed a 75 Gallon, NGas, Tank style replacement). I was given a quote immediately, no haggles, just the BEST price upfront. Saved me hundreds of $$ over other quotes I received for the same Products. Installation was scheduled promptly for the next day and completed as promised on time by a professional, thorough and friendly team. I will go back to them for my future needs. They are efficient, professional, Exceptional Customer Service and their prices are very reasonable. I feel they can beat any estimate while offering the same service and Products. I highly recommend this certified company from Angie's list and Thank angie.com."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Triangle, VA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
