"David and his team were phenomenal. They were responsive, punctual, and extremely professional. The only access point to our attic is through my 1 year old daughters nursery. David taped up and sealed everything to protect the nursery as if it was his own child. We received quotes from a few other providers. While the amounts were similar, the scope of work that David provided was far beyond the others. The other companies offered to just add blown-in insulation over top of our existing 1950's insulation, whereas David pulled all the old rotting insulation, added sprayed foam on all surfaces, then followed with blow-in. I highly recommend using Prudent for any insulation work."

"From initial contact with their sales department we've had a great experience, Corey did an excellent job of taking pictures and showing the problems in our attic. Their level of communication from emails to phone calls was precisely correct by contacting me when needed and not too much with pictures detailing each solution and its associated cost. On the first work day their crew called ahead of time, arrived promptly and came prepared with masks, plastic sheeting, full body outfits and cloth covering for the stairs. In just over 6 hours they had cleaned up the entire attic removing bad sub-floor and other insulation, laid out the foundation for building a large deck space and placed part of the first layer of materials down. They also sealed the attic door along with some of the air vents and ceiling fans. They completed insulating my front porch overhang and cleaned up all of their mess very well. Painters tape was used on corners where they we’re most likely to bump into it for protection and plastic sheeting was setup precisely where needed to keep dust off of our hallway things next to the attic entrance. Overall it was a great first day and they even spotted an issue from a previous vendor who failed to properly connect some of their duct work together (which was the original cause of my daughter’s room temperature being so hard to control the temperature and not easy to spot). The only complaint I have is that while I fully expected the need to finish our attic sub-floor, remaining layers of TruSoftTM Cellulose on the main floor and encapsulate the duct lines with Polyurethane Spray Foam all before finishing with blown-in insulation, they left a key piece incomplete. When leaving they left the duct work leading from our main trunk line to my daughter’s room off. This left a hole in the main trunk line reducing heat in all upstairs rooms but most important is that nothing was connected to my daughter’s room. So around 6:00am she woke up coughing as we noticed the upstairs was around 56 degrees. Overall a simple heads up would have solved everything as we have space heaters, however I did not look into the attic when they left so that’s my fault for not knowing a key piece of the duct line was missing. Based on the overall work complete I would still very much recommend them as Robert (onsite team lead) was very good at communicating and the crew we’re all quite friendly. Their work will last for the lifetime of my house and has already added value to the sale price. In the end they made a really nice attic deck leaving me with plenty of useable storage space. While this is not the cheapest company, the quality and knowledge that I never need to worry about my attic again is certainly worth it."

"pleased with the new insulation in my crawl space, any place where a rodent could possibly be entering my crawl space was fixed with foam seal. The crew was efficient and were care of not making a mess when removing the old insulation. I am very happy with this contractor. fully recommend as another contractor came in seemed to make up problems that were not there. For instance a leak that was not there. trust Mark at DMV as he is honest and knowledgeable of the products he sells and I having him back for a estimate to do my attic."

"Exceptional work. Founders spray-foamed my two crawl spaces in November 2023. These guys are super professional and efficient. From my initial call to the consultation to the actual job completion was about 2 weeks. The pricing is the best I found after getting three other quotes in the Arlington, VA area."

"After reviewing our roof and attic space, the team recommended just blown fiberglass instead of foam. Super happy with the quality of work and the fair price."

"It was amazing, took all day to get the old insulation out, seal the holes, and refill with new insulation. Would recommend this company to anyone looking for a professional service to improve insulation and save money on heating and cooling costs."

Small jobs welcome

"Removed/replaced blown attic insulation, foam sealed and treated. placed batts over lights, fans, around attic access, installed access blanket. Responded to my request for cellulose despite preferences otherwise. Bill and assistant are a pleasure to deal with totally. They arrived on time and completed the task in less than 8 hours at a better price than half-dozen others."

FAQs for spray foam insulation projects in Triangle, VA

Old insulation should be removed when it shows damage, contamination, or heavy deterioration. If you notice water stains, rodent droppings, mold, or large gaps, plan on taking it out to protect your home’s energy performance and indoor air quality. Removing compromised material eliminates health hazards, cuts energy loss, and sets the stage for a safer, more efficient attic—all while keeping utility bills in check.

R-value measures how well insulation resists heat flow—the higher the number, the better it slows heat transfer. The right R-value keeps your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, saving energy year-round. Match the rating to your climate zone and have a pro verify performance over time, because moisture or settling can lower R-value and cut efficiency.

Attic insulation can stay in place for 80 to 100 years, but its performance often drops after the first 15. As dust, moisture, or mold build up, the material loses R-value and allows heat to escape. Schedule periodic inspections so a pro can tell you when replacement makes sense—helping you keep energy bills down and indoor comfort up.

You can over-insulate an attic. Beyond the recommended R-value, extra layers don’t add efficiency and can trap moisture, leading to mold or reduced performance. A local insulation pro can measure current levels, confirm the right target for your climate, and advise on any adjustments so you avoid future energy or maintenance headaches.

Insulation can be damaged by mold, pests, water leaks, or accidental electrical contact. When the material is compromised, it loses R-value and can introduce health hazards. Removing and replacing affected sections restores efficiency, while routine inspections from a qualified pro help you catch problems early and keep your attic safe and energy-smart.
