"We were going to pass.  After I bought the deal I called to see how much they charge for certain things and they have not told me over the phone.  They just wanted outlay on that day for their work.  Well, what I ended up getting the big deal for and what they ended up doing was changing two light fixtures because it was so expensive.  I think I paid more than the big deal because I emailed them that I still have work for them to do and they could have done two light fixtures but it was going to be a different charge, like a $80 extra for what I actually wanted them do."

"I paid for a deal on Angie's list. It was suppose to be for 2 hours of service.  He finished the ceiling fan and I told him I wanted the outdoor lights replaced and he talked to my husband and he told him it would extra because we ran out of time, when he was done my husband paid for it with his credit card, I was unsure of the deal that was going on. It was suppose to be $200 for 2 hours of service. I think he talked a lot of his time here. So I paid the $69 for the $200 for 2 hours and then he charged $95 extra for the second job I asked him to do. What he did was good."

We called them and asked them to build a custom deck.  He came out and started our deck immediately and added benches and different levels.  He took our design and added to it and made our dream deck better that we could have imagined.

The price was better than we thought it would be.

It was a great experience and we highly recommend them if your looking for a great design and great prices.

Sincerely

The McKinneys

"We are extremely pleased with the work that Philip and his team did for us. This was a fairly big budget project for us. It is always hard to know what you're getting into with a contractor or landscaper that you haven't worked with before. I'm glad to report that this project went smoothly and was done well.
The initial phase of the project was the approval from the Homeowner's Association. Philip was great to work with during this phase. Our home was new construction, so it was somewhat of a blank slate to begin with. We had to think through several aspects of the total scope and determine what on our "wish list" would fit into our budget. He made a few trips to our site discussing different options and pricing those out for us. He had great suggestions and definitely helped us hone in on the best design ideas.
The great experience continued during the project itself. He and his team showed up on time, worked hard, and were careful to leave the site in the best possible condition at the end of each day. Like any project, there were a few things that popped up unexpectedly as the work progressed. They went the extra mile to take care of all the small details.
We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. It looks great and we think that it will really help with the erosion issues. I would highly recommend their team for similar work and wouldn't hesitate to have more work done if needed.
The job was looks great and was completed on time and on budget. No negative surprises at all, but a certainly a few positive ones. They took care of a couple of things that we hadn't thought about on the front end. We could not have asked for more.
I think it is worth sharing a comment on the financial arrangement as well. I think they do it in a fair and professional way. Our project took a few weeks. He asked us for a deposit up front and a weekly draw. I think this is a reasonable process for a small business who is doing custom work. We kept the running totals and squared that up a couple of times along the way. In the end, the total was exactly what we had agreed to up front.
If you have work to be done, I'd definitely recommend that you consider Hardscapes by the Yard.

This is an update to my original review which is below.  I contacted Keith a week after I posted the review.  He was very concerned about the problems I experienced and readily offered to come over and make things right.  After I found another valve for the repair, he came the following day and installed it.  He also did an excellent job of cleaning the internal parts of the faucet.  Unfortunately, the faucet still leaked, although much less than before.  He believes I will need an additional O-ring and washer kit to solve the problem. He volunteered to come back again to attempt to fix the faucet once I got the repair kit.  As for the water heater, I further checked on the internet as well as reviews on Angies List and agreed with Keith and the original plumbers that since no debris was found during a partial flush, that a full flush of a 20 year old hot water heater may cause more problems.  Leaving well enough alone is sometimes the best answer.  I was very impressed with the follow-up to the original problem I had with this service call, that I wanted to amend my grading from a D to a  B.  I fell confident that Keith will or has addressed my concerns and has made a reasonable attempt to resolve any issues I had.   Thanks.  (The original review is below.)

The company responded quickly to set up a date and time.  The "plumbers" arrived 45 minutes late without calling ahead to let me know they were running late.  From the start I was concerned that the two gentlemen were not professionals.  Neither would work a task by themselves but worked as a team. After showing them the two tasks I needed done they started off by expressing concern over why I was flushing a 20 year old hot water heater. Once they started repairing the faucet they determined that they needed to replace the valve.  They both left to pick up a valve at Home Depot.  Fortunately I found the parts booklet while they were gone and called them with the proper part number. Upon returning they were concerned that the recommended valve did not exactly match the existing valve.  Once replaced, the faucet still leaked.  They kept tightening things more and more to see if the could stop the leak. Although I kept quiet, I was very concerned about the over tightening.  They looked no further to find the problem and just dismissed it as a problem with the new valve.  Next they hooked up a hose to the hot water heater drain and watched the water flow out for a few minutes but did not see any debris so they proclaimed the water heater was OK.  That is NOT how you flush a water heater. I went on line and reviewed the steps necessary to flush a hot water heater and, other than the hose, none were followed. The heater was not turned off, the water intake was not shut off, the tank was not fully drained, etc. etc. etc.

I suggest the two "plumbers" go on line and learn how a fix a kitchen faucet leak and flush a hot water heater,  The videos showed one plumber fixing a faucet and using only his hands to tighten things and the other used his hand and then just a quarter turn to snug the connection.  It also discusses replacing "O' rings etc. if the valve does not fix the problem.  I noted the estimated repair time was 10 minutes to replace the valve.  Not counting the time to go to Home Depot, they spent over 30 minutes EACH not fixing the faucet.

Also, they claimed they were unable to shut off the water under the sink, so they turned off the water in the whole house.  At one time they were even going to shut it off at the city's main valve outside.

I have not contacted Koehler to see if the change in the valve may be the problem.  I will, but I am very concerned about how much damage there may be from over tightening.  I know the handle is stiff to turn now, not a freely moving handle it used to be.

The gentlemen were both courteous but apparently not willing to take on tasks separately.  Great guys to talk to, but I don't want them working on my plumbing again.  I wondered if either one has a plumbers license.  If they do, I would like to talk to their guild.

I believe a refund, in whole, is appropriate.  Have the plumbers view the on line videos or written procedures and then discuss with them what they did or did not do. Just Google "how to repair a leaky Kohler kitchen faucet" and "how to flush a hot water heater".

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Union City, GA

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
