"The overall work was great. There were issues along the way that makes it difficult to give higher than a 3/5. I would break it down like this: Reliability: 1 out of 5. They never showed up when they said they would. We were often told they would be there at 9am, but then we were lucky if they were there by 2pm. They would say they were on their way at 10, but then now show up until 4pm. There were many days during the project where they didn't show up at all. We tried to be understanding of extenuating circumstances, such as truck issues and high heat indexes. We were also understanding of the distance the crew has to travel to get to us, though that is something they should have considered before accepting the job. Communication: 1 out of 5. In most cases, we had to initiate the contact to get any information on when or if anyone was going to show up. There was a complete lack of communication. We were very frustrated and annoyed throughout the majority of the project. We also had to request, multiple times, for an itemized invoice so we knew what we were paying for. We never did get one. Quality of work: 5 out of 5. Both decks are beautiful and well constructed. If I was reviewing on the work alone, the score would be much higher. The crew he brought with him were hardworking and cared about the quality of work they were doing, which was amazing. The entire project, as a whole, was stressful. The end product is beautiful and exactly what we wanted. To say we have mixed feelings about this company would definitely be accurate. It's hard to rave about the work that was done when the level of professionalism was so low."

"Actual installation took 1 day, but estimate, scheduling and final payment took almost 2 months. Gutter guards could not be installed as per factory instructions because of problems with existing drip rail, but were installed with modifications. New gutters tended to overflow where roof valley met gutter, but this was corrected later with the addition of valley splash shields. One unpleasant surprise was the subcontracting of gutter installation by a local company that we had had previous dealing with, who argued with us about desired modifications. However, Scott was very involved, and resolved all issues, including adjusting the price based on and quot;pain and sufferingand quot;. "Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
