"Kelly came to do some plumbing work on our sink while we were in the middle of our kitchen remodel (he is going to reconnect the sink and install a faucet for us at a later date - we are waiting for counters to come in). At the time he came to do the sink work, we asked him to take a look at our water heater. We had contacted him about replacing the water heater, and at the time he gave us a competitive estimate of about $970 for the work (very comparable to the other companies we had called for estimates - and we called at least 3 other plumbers about the water heater job, one of which came to look at the water heater before giving us a quote).

After examining our water heater closely, Kelly recommended that we not replace the whole unit as we had been told. Instead, he said that it would be worth replacing just the broken control valve at much less cost. He quoted us between $250 - $300 to get the part and install it, and contacted us promptly when the part arrived to set up a time to fix the water heater. He actually completed the work for under the estimate, and did the work in a timely and thorough manner (he sealed all of the valves to ensure that there would be no gas leaks from any area). Now our water heater works great.

Kelly is very personable and spends time answering questions. He even showed my husband how to unclog a drain that had been giving us trouble, without any charge! We are so happy to have found a reliable plumber that takes care of his customers. "Last week, we noticed our heater was not working very well. I called Purcell's, and someone came out the next day (Wednesday) to look at it. They determined the limiting switch was broken, and he fixed it on Thursday. Our house felt warmer, but it wasn't getting to the thermostat reading. I called on Friday, and the technician came out later that evening to change the settings. The temperature dropped over the weekend, and our heater struggled to reach 64. When it read 57 on Monday morning, I called in again. Matt, the owner, said that he was going to come out to take a look at it instead of a technician because he wanted to see what was going on. He arrived before he said he would, and he found the problem to be the furnace was dirty and needed to be cleaned. He cleaned out the furnace for us, and the house is now heating properly. Within 30 minutes, our thermostat was reading 62 (before it was 58), and it is still climbing. I can definitely feel the difference as there is a lot more air pressure coming out of all the vents. Matt did not charge for the technician coming out the second time or this morning when he cleaned out the vents. He said that we had already paid enough. I really appreciated that both the technician and Matt answered our questions and did not pressure us into things that we did not need. Thank you so much for making our house warm again in such cold weather!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."
