"I purchased a deal for a toilet tune-up, but we wound up needing to replace the toilet altogether. My daughter had to go to Home Depot and purchase a new toilet, without any advice from the plumber on which one to get because he would not return her calls. My daughter checked the reviews on the toilets online and got advice from the plumbing specialist at Home Depot. She wound up purchasing a toilet from a brand the plumber does not like, so he informed us he would not offer any guarantees for his installation. It has only been a week and the toilet is still working, but it is frightening that he would not give any guarantees. Because he was unable to give us the 5 year guarantee for the toilet like he does for others, he should have advised us to purchase a different one. Instead he went ahead and installed it and said he would not warrant it. He charged an astronomical amount for installing the new toilet. Home Depot had an installation price of $109 and he charged $250. If we had known he would do that, we would have never gone with him."

"Vince came to look at my oven, which was only heating to 200°. He was very nice and professional. He confirmed the oven was not operating properly and suspected either the board was bad or the temp sensor. He did not have the sensor, so made another appointment to return. Unfortunately, the problem was not corrected with the new sensor. Vince only charged me for the $75 service call.
While my experience was positive, I am now suspicious about this company. On Angie's List they go by "Appliance Repair For Less." Their web site says they have a A+ rating with the BBB. However, I could not find their business name on the BBB. Their invoice has the name A-1 Appliance Repair.
A-1 Appliance Repair has a F rating with the BBB.
This strikes me as suspicious and dishonest. I would never contract with a company that has such a low BBB rating.

"Our over-the-stove microwave began starting on its own. At first, it only happened when we were boiling water on the stove below. Within days, it began to start with no provocation, sometimes in the middle of the night. If not stopped, it would keep running and grow very hot. We were afraid it might come on while away or asleep, and start a fire. While we unplugged it to prevent further run away conditions, living without a microwave was a problem. We reached out for help.
Steve came to our home, assessed the problem and took the appliance apart. He quickly isolated the problem. It seems the motherboard had gotten moisture inside it. The moisture had expanded when hot and damaged to board.
Steve ordered a new board and just replaced it. Problem solved.
Throughout the process, Steve has been great. He answered our questions, helped us explore alternative resolutions and kept us informed about the status of the parts.

"He was punctual, he cleaned up after himself. He did a good job, everything was installed nicely. He told me $65 an hour and he was only here 2 hours and still charged me for the three hour estimate."

"This company was so great to work with! They responded immediately to my inquiry which was Friday late afternoon. The gentleman said he would take care of it on Monday morning and that was exactly what he did. In addition, he was extremely polite and respectful. If I or anyone I know needs work like this done, I would recommend them in a heartbeat!"

"Great! It was a tight and difficult installation, but he did a great job. He also found the old installation was not up to current codes, and fixed all that.

"Technician came to the house and analyzed the problem. It was determined that the cost of repair was over the allowable Choice Home Warranty limit and it should be replaced. Choice Home Warranty issued their replacement cost. This cost was unacceptable and I challenged their figure. After some negotiation I was offered an increased settlement amount. I still balked at their offer but I was told to take it or repair my old microwave. I finally accepted their amount, even though it is still well below what it will cost me to replace the unit. I might add that the existing microwave has the convection feature and I want to replace with same features. The cost that I will receive also does not include any removal, disposal or installation costs. At this time I am debating whether I will continue with Choice Home Warranty or consider other options."

"I bought an Angie's List deal online - $39 for a toilet tune-up. My toilet had been driving me crazy because it runs all the time after flushing. When Todd came I showed him the toilet and he looked it over, tightened the handle, and that was basically it. He told me I needed a new toilet which would cost $300 installed. He then went outside and told me I had a leak under my valve box and needed all new valves, a new shut off valve, a pressure vacuum installed, etc. which would cost $1100. Then he went inside the house and told me all my shut off valves inside the house were frozen and needed replacing, at a discounted price of $910. So basically for $2300 I could fix everything he said was wrong. While it may be true that some or all of these items may need to be fixed (I have not had time to get a 2nd opinion on the plumbing repairs), my toilet problem was not fixed. My toilet still runs. I ended up feeling like I paid him $39 to come tell me how many problems my home had. Not exactly what I had in mind.
