"Per my landscape contractor I requested a quote on patio leveling with a 1" raised pitch toward the back of the yard. After 2 conversations with salesman about this specific request, I put a downpayment and the install crew came out. Before work began I again said the scope was leveling with 1" pitch toward back of the yard. The crew foreman acknowledged. After work was done, I expressed concern that there was no 1" pitch, rather 1/4" pitch. After expressing my concerns to the office, they offered to come bacf out with increased risk of cracking the existing cement. I declined for obvious reasons. The collections agent said page 10 of the contract says this process is only to 'stabilize' the concrete. After BBB complaint, Bill Jirsa said the 1" is only a 'target'. No one discussed this during estimate discussions or installation. Nowhere on their website does it discuss this is only to 'stabilize' or it only guarantees 'target' raising. The water is still pooling on my patio."

"I’m extremely satisfied with Regional. We had three sump pumps that needed to be replaced (primary, secondary, and water powered backup). The quote was very reasonable, and they were able to do the work shortly after their initial visit. They replaced everything with Liberty pumps. Justin and Erich did the work and they were very professional. We had them quote out a couple of other items (replacing water heater, etc) and those quotes were also very reasonable. I will definitely hire them for future jobs."

"Michael did a great job recommending the right course of action in fixing my mom's garbage disposal. He was very professional and patience with my mom. He did the work for me even though I was out of town at the time. If I have another need, I will be contacting Mike at Downing."

"What a rip off. Told me I bought junk fixtures, Tuscany, and quoted me $475 to change 2 "0" rings and two rubber washers in my own faucet and the youngster plumber told me it would last 10 years, the same as he said my cheap Tuscany would last. I paid $95 for that. RIP OFF COMPANY!"

"Had Roto rooter come out in November, paid cash to the employee and he wrote down 11-2022 instead of 8-2023 into the warranty system and wrote in we paid $450 which we paid $900 so he stole money and now they won’t warranty are clogged main line now. Called main office the lady was very rude and cursing then hung up the phone. Roto rooter is the scummiest company I have ever used. If you want to get screwed over by a big name use Roto rooter. Never again."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Valparaiso, IN

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
