"We dealt with someone whose title was "Sales Estimator." He did that part of his job well. However the installation was where it fell apart. We were upfront from the get-go about the timeline we were dealing with because of an appointment with movers. We were told the floor would be installed in ONE day, on a Thursday and that we would receive a phone call prior to the installers showing up. The day of installation I did not hear from the Carpet Company by the afternoon. I called them. I was told that the installers would be at our house at 3:45pm. I confirmed that they would be able to complete the job that day if they were starting so late. At 3:30pm the installers called me saying they were at the house. The installers came in and looked over the kitchen. They then said that they had forgotten a tool and had to go get it!!! They left and were gone fro 40 minutes. We confirmed again that they would be able to finish the installation that day. We were told that they would be done around 9 pm. I called the Carpet Company asking about the experience of the installers considering that they had forgotten an essential tool. I was told that he "had no idea why they forgot" and was assured that they were experienced installers. About 3 hours later, we got a call from the installers saying that there was an issue with the dishwasher and that it would take until 2 am to finish the job and that they wanted to return the next day to finish the installation as they didn't want to work until 2 am. We had to change our appointment with the movers because of this which caused added stress and hassle. The installers said they were done Friday mid-morning. I went to look and they had left the front door to our house wide open. Not unlocked, wide open. I did not receive a call from the Carpet Company except to receive the balance due. When I explained that their customer service leaves something to be desired, I was told that they don't have time to call everyone. Our kitchen floor is installed however I will never use the Carpet Company again. We understand things come up but the Carpet Company should have pro-actively talked to the installers Thursday about whether it was realistic that they would finish the job, especially when they showed up without the necessary tools and hadn't started by 4 pm! It would have been much easier for us had we known to change the appointment with the movers the day before instead of the day of. The Carpet Company could also have called to confirm Friday that the installation had been completed in one day as promised and that we were happy with the installation. The "Sales Estimator" does not understand customer service."

"We had to remove all furntiure to have our ceilings re-plastered and decided to have the carpets cleaned while the furniture was gone. Tom had been referred to us by a good friend who had used him in the past to install new carpet. In this case we wanted the carpets re-stretched where needed. Tom did an excellent job in short time. We were very happy with the results and would recommend Tom to anyone installing new flooring or having stretching done as was the case with us. <br />"

Special kudos to Nigel who managed our order and Oscar who was the lead installer. We would not hesitate to recommend Di's Floor Centre, they did a great job for us."

"I have been using his services for the past couple of years. He has been fabulous. I paid $750 for his services which excluded the cost of the materials. He was punctual, reliable and very professional. He came with his son and I never heard them speak any sort of harsh word or snicker or anything else about anybody. They were very sweet and hard working. Their work was beautiful. I also would like to say that, within a week of them putting the linoleum on the upstairs that I had another contractor come out and do some cabinet work. This contractor put a tear in the linoleum and Alan, who was the owner of First for Flooring came out, fixed it and made it look absolutely perfect. He corrected another contractor's mistake which was amazing."

"We completely gutted out kitchen, so I worked with a local contractor to coordinate all the work and who installed the cabinets. We had preliminary work done to resurface the ceiling, do some rewiring for the new appliances and relocate the outlets, and add undercounter lighting <br /> <br /> We were advised to have all our cabinets and appliances on-site (which we did) before the demo began in late November. We had another project going on simultaneously by the same contractor (a new front porch) while the kitchen work was being done. <br /> Our time frame was a little over 3 weeks to get everything completed before Christmas. It was tight getting it done in time, but they finished it the night before our out of town company arrived. We came in pretty much on target for our budget. <br /> <br /> We purchased stainless appliances in advance of the remodel which our contractor installed.. We also had our contractor install the plank flooring. We wanted granite countertops so we compromised by getting granite tile countertops and backsplashes. We are very pleased with the finished kitchen. <br /> The cabinets are high quality one of thetop priority items for the kitchen. If I did it again I wouldn't do it any different."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Eugene, OR

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
