"A1 Radon Services was the 3rd company that we worked with for our Rosemount house and the only one who was able to solve the problem. The house was built in 1978 and did not have drain tile inside the basement footings making it hard to properly remove the radon. A1 Radon worked with me to investigate and eventually find the radon hotspot. Once found, they added the required suction points and now our levels are within safe levels. They were very easy to work with and the cost was reasonable considering the number of visits required."

The crew was efficient and friendly. On the third day an additional crew of two men arrived to install Radon mitigation system. "Walt and his crew did an amazing job mitigating radon from our basement! Radon level went from 4.4 pCi/L to 0.3. Out of 3 bids, he was the only one to come to our house to look at how to route the system. He wasn't in a hurry and explained everything to me in layman's terms. On the day of the install, they arrived promptly and explained what they were going to do. They suggested testing out the sump pump before they sealed up the area and I realized it wasn't working. I purchased a new sump and they even helped me put it in! Wasn't expecting that kind of service. Would highly recommend Advanced Radon Services."

"<p>The Tonna team installed a new central air unit and furnace.  The estimate was very detailed, and the job was completed exactly as described.  I specifically waited several months to post this review to assure that everything worked well through the winter months.  Everything has been excellent.  The bid was received on 8/21/13, and the work was completed in one day, 8/22/13.  I would not hesitate to refer Tonna Mechanical, they were extremely professional, thorough and easy to work with.  Tonna Mechanical also installed a humidifier on my new furnace a couple months later and it has worked flawlessly.  <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"We wanted to reduce the presence of radon in our house. Andrew came out for the estimate and gave us a general idea of what to expect - what they would do initially as well as future steps in necessary as each home has it's own uniqueness. There estimate was in line with the other we received and decided to go with them. Josh and Andrew installed the exterior fan and interior piping - quickly and completely cleaned up when finished. They noted how import it was to have the foundation sealed. As we were waiting for the test results, I noticed that under our basement shower there was a dirt floor - a remodel in our old home long before we arrived. Our post mitigation test confirmed this opening was sucking air out of the basement rather than under the slab. They gave me the option of sealing it myself or having them do the work. I wanted to stay with the estimate so I did it myself. They instructed me on what to do and stressing the importance of getting all of it sealed. Wrapping up a long story, I got it sealed off and the follow up test had our radon results down to 0.7 - from 6.6 before the installation."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Victoria, MN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
