"Jason, the owner of the company sent his son to the job. In conversation with him, I found out he had been working for his father for 7 years. I must say that their previous job ran a little over due to the rain for the past few days, but they did arrive before noon as promised. Jason taught his son well. The bricks on the house were over 30 years old so were no longer available! The son stated he had some that he thought matched pretty close, and if he cut them in half, it would be about 1/4 inch differant. Clever idea and when he laid 3 of them out, if you weren't familar with the project, one would never know!! I was very impressed with not only the expertise he showed in laying the brick, but the workmanship and cleanup were all outstanding. It was a great conversation and listening to him and finding out we had a few things in common. MORA! If I need any more brick work or tuck pointint i would certainly give them a call again"

"Artistic Landscapes Inc. was one of many companies we talked to and received quotes from about installing a boulder retaining wall in our backyard to replace aging railroad ties and decking. The backyard is sloped with very limited access to move materials and equipment, therefore many of the companies we spoke with responded with either limited options for landscape ideas or unaffordable prices. Chris came out, listened to our ideas, gave us some of his and told us exactly what we could expect; he quickly put a bid together and we were elated it fell within our budget. 



He and his crew not only worked around the limited access issues, but challenging weather including rain and wet conditions/clay soils. In addition to an approximate 60 foot long boulder retaining wall, they installed 33 paver stones for a pathway, steps as a feature area, additional large boulders for aesthetic enhancements and graded the area to address critical storm water runoff needs. The placement of each stone/boulder was clearly thought through, resulting in a unique and attractive wall versus many of the standard "one on top of the other" looks.



Toward the end there were a few minor tweaks we requested to which Chris and his crew were more than happy to accommodate until they knew we were completely satisfied. Clean up was fabulous too; our front yard damaged by major equipment during the process (which we knew was necessary) was fully restored as promised!



Chris was good to communicate with and very trustworthy in terms of what he committed to delivering. I would recommend Artistic Landscapes to anyone seeking quality work at a fair price, and by someone who knows what works and what doesn't. We absolutely love our new backyard...thanks Chris and Artistic Landscapes!

"I hired Luke to fill windows wells that we wanted to eliminate. He was thorough in explaining the process to me and was even able to give me a bid using pictures I had sent him (due to COVID-19 we were/are trying to reduce exposure). So many of our home projects that we have tackled with contractors have had some sort of issue (joys of a fixer upper). However, this project went off without a hitch. "I cannot tell you how pleased we are. Clark is very professional and the crew is knowledgeable and they know what they are doing, they are also a very polite crew to work with. They met with my husband 2 x to go over the removal of our old 63 foot long by 8 foot wide sidewalk that ran by the side of our garage and reinstall a new sidewalk same dimensions. They removed the old sidewalk without any damage to our garage, our sidewalk butts up to the the brick foundation of the garage. My husband wanted the sidewalk installed according to his specifications and they agreed to install the sidewalk to my husbands specifications. When the sidewalk was done they back filled the dirt around the concrete with the dirt they removed. We highly recommend them."

"If you are looking for paver patios, the installers are great. They did a very nice job, and were professional throughout. They would clean up every day before leaving, addressed any questions we had timely and we are very satisfied with the results. We also added a gazebo to our patio design. It was very clear that gazebo's are not one of their strengths. We encountered many issues with the design and build of the gazebo long before construction began. We had hired Josh in October to complete all elements of the landscaping project the following spring. Over the winter months, we had asked on many occasions for catalog photos, or anything that would confirm what the finished gazebo was going to look like. The pictures were never sent and the only indication of what it might look like came just a few days before the project began and was a very small (1x1) black and white picture. Our expectation of the gazebo was that the material used would be cedar. We had asked for glass windows that could be closed during the cooler and winter months. We were assured on many occasions that cedar material and glass windows were what we were going to get. As they were starting to build the gazebo, the material was not cedar, rather it was pressed wood. As the windows were installed, they were not glass (despite being told that very day they were glass), instead they were a plastic film over the screens. We were left in a very difficult position where we were essentially forced to concede on both elements. While the gazebo is functional, and will suit our needs, had Josh sent just ONE picture sometime in the 5 months or so prior the project start, we may have been able to make a different decision. Related, and something else to be aware of. When trying to reach Josh about start dates, etc I would say he was not always as responsive as I would have expected. Furthermore, there were multiple instances where what was promised was not delivered. Again, if you are looking at a paver or patio project - these guys are great and I would recommend their workmanship. However beware of anything more than that."

"I'm amazed! And my neighbors are very pleased with the improvement. Three Timbers removed all overgrowth and replaced old plastic edging with beautiful brick edging. Covered all flower beds with chocolate mulch. Also replaced over grown garden with gorgeous grass. They accomplished in a few days what would have taken me a few years to do it I ever got it done."

"The project was completed on time and turned out well. We have a boulder wall and the new boulders are much bigger and should stay in place. The workers were experts, very impressive. The only snag was that the machinery cut the sprinkler line and getting someone out to fix that is proving to be very sdifficult"

Josh Knutson, the owner of Dakota Landscaping, was not only extremely helpful in designing a plan for us, he went the extra mile to work closely with the company that was re-paving our driveway to ensure that all the grading around the house and toward the driveway was correct to direct water away from the house.  Dakota's work was tested within days when the Twin Cities received record rainfalls over a 3-day period.  We didn't have a drop of water in our house!  The whole Dakota team was outstanding.  The employees worked hard, were conscientious, careful, courteous and when I asked for some changes, they didn't hesitate at all.  I liked that the owner worked right along with his team and that their goal was the same as mine - that the job was done right and that we were happy with the end result.
