"The primary reason for re-landscaping the front (north) side of our home was because we were getting water in our lower level with heavy rains.  Since we had to correct the water issue, we decided it was also a good opportunity to give the front of our home a fresh and updated look. Josh Knutson, the owner of Dakota Landscaping, was not only extremely helpful in designing a plan for us, he went the extra mile to work closely with the company that was re-paving our driveway to ensure that all the grading around the house and toward the driveway was correct to direct water away from the house.  Dakota's work was tested within days when the Twin Cities received record rainfalls over a 3-day period.  We didn't have a drop of water in our house!  The whole Dakota team was outstanding.  The employees worked hard, were conscientious, careful, courteous and when I asked for some changes, they didn't hesitate at all.  I liked that the owner worked right along with his team and that their goal was the same as mine - that the job was done right and that we were happy with the end result. "I think the finishing around the window could've been a little bit nicer. Our basement isn't really finished. It still the brick wall, cement wall.It just seems like it could've been finished off more than it was. They were quick. I didn't see a lot of debris or anything. I know sawing through cement can be messy but they seemed to be very clean and efficient. They were out here pretty quick. We checked around and they were very reasonable."

"Justin and his crew were fantastic. No issues at all. We ended up changing the tile, nearly mid-job because Justin wanted us to, "love it." He gave his professional opinion and he was right on with shape, color and style of backsplash. We should've started with his thoughts and saved us all time and hassle. He too facilitated returning special order tile we bought outside of his recommendations. We had delays due to COVID19 and tile orders, but he still checked in and got the job done as expected. "The owner, Thomas Burke, was great to work with in all respects.   To start with he specified concrete that was stronger than what I wanted and this really pleased me.   It told me he was willing to go above and beyond my requirements or minimums.   He started with grading and removing dirt so he could build a retaining wall to hold back the grade for a new driveway.  The guy he sent out worked very hard and did a near perfect job on the new wall.   Like any construction project there were a few unknowns but he worked around these problems.   Then he poured the new garage addition slab and finished it for me.   Unfortunately it started to rain just before the final finish hardened so they had to redo some areas.  Didn't come out quite as good after the rain but very acceptable.   Then they immediately poured the driveway slab.   No new showers so this came out perfectly.  The concrete company sent out the second truck too soon so there was not enough time between pours to really get set.   I think this second pour therefore did not quite get the grade Tom wanted. The driveway slab was pitched to drain water to match an adjacent existing slab and this did not quite work out.   I have a small area on the new drive slab that holds water after a rain.  It was a tough job to slope it right and it is within a quarter inch of draining.   Like I said they were still grading the driveway when the truck showed up and I really think this cause the slight glitch.
I have some more work to do next summer and am really looking forward to having Tom back knowing I will get a good price, a good job, and quick service done right.  I would highly recommend ACT Contracting to anyone.
