"Fred was terrific! He was very professional, yet personable. I recently bought a house for my daughter and grandson to move into. We needed an outlet for a speed charger for an electric car and I didn't really know what was needed. He very patiently worked with me to understand what I needed and make sure we got the correct outlet and wiring installed. I was also concerned about security and Fred walked around the outside of the house with me to talk about selection of and installation of various types of security cameras and lights, showing a genuine concern for making sure I was comfortable with where and how everything should be placed to provide exactly what I was looking for. He showed up right on time on the scheduled day and did a wonderful job. Everything works perfectly. He will absolutely be the first person I call for any future projects."

"The contractor and his assistants were extremely polite, professional and thorough. The landscape rear lighting was problematic to determine the cause. They had to return several times. Each time they worked to identify the problem and after numerous options, the problem was finally corrected. At no time did I feel they were getting irritated with me or the lighting problem. Scott was patient and responded to each call back. Finally, John, the owner, came out with Scott. Everything had been done, correctly by Scott and his assistant. We just finally concluded that a higher voltage transformer was needed. When installed, all systems have been fine since. John actually called back a couple of days later to confirm my satisfaction. We are planning to have some interior electrical work done and will definitely use them again. We will also refer them to friends."

His wisdom and experience really showed in the quality of his work, which gave me great confidence in the results. On top of that, his prices were very affordable without compromising quality. It’s rare to find someone who shows up on time, communicates clearly, and delivers excellent results with such professionalism and care. I highly recommend Luis for any electrical work—you’ll be in great hands!"

"Couldn't have asked for better service. Issue ID'd and fixed in about 45 seconds flat. Load/line wired wrong. After fixing, secured GFCI and two affected outlets, and then gave a quick block of instruction on the issue. OUTSTANDING! Then, on top of that, I had used a coupon for 2 hours labor for $149.00 so they called the office and got that cut just about in half to what I figure was simply a service call fee. Advised on a washing machine wiring hookup as well which I was able to do myself cuz it was pretty cut and dry. Their knowledge of residential electric and residential CODE was just what we needed. HIGHLY recommend."

"I called about 10:00 AM to ask if the work could be done before Christmas (it's Dec. 18), and by 12:30 Greg was pulling up at my house. The work was done beautifully in a couple of hours. Greg was a consummate professional, wore booties whenever he was in the house, and cleaned up after the work was done. I will definitely call Streamline next time I need electrical work done. They also do plumbing and HVAC, though I didn't use those services today."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Wake Forest, NC

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
