"NWP installed a new furnace in my home, for which they overcharged me by $3,379, based on the contract they wrote. The job was "completed" in early October, when they demanded the final payment. I asked if they had received approval on the final inspection for the permit, and they assured me they had. In February, while at the Permit Office in Vallejo, I was informed that I still had an open permit with them, that they had not had the final inspection. That permit will soon expire, if it has not already. By that time, one of the ducts they had installed had fallen down and torn; the wires leading to the thermostat had also fallen down across the door. I called and asked them to come out to fix, and to schedule the final inspection. They never showed. When I called to ask where they were, they rescheduled. At that later date, they sent out a technician to survey the problems; he promised he would return the following Thursday to fix them, and would schedule the inspection for Friday morning. None of these things occurred. I texted him and received no reply. So, at this point I have a working furnace, drooping and torn ducts, falling wires, no final inspection, and am missing one register because it was taken to match the size by the technician. I am moving to file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. I would recommend you find someone else for the job. P.S. Just discovered that their license has been suspended by the CSLB for failure to post a bond."

FAQs for steam shower installation projects in Walnut Creek, CA

A steam shower is a regular shower stall outfitted with a steam generator. Push a button, and the generator heats water to create soothing steam, and you’ve got an instant spa at about 110°F. Because it doubles as a standard shower, you don’t need extra square footage—just the right plumbing, a sealed enclosure, and proper ventilation.

Expect to spend roughly $0.50 to $1 on water and electricity for a 20- to 30-minute steam session. Actual costs depend on your local utility rates, but most homeowners find that the increase on their monthly bill is modest, even with regular use. To keep ongoing costs down, look for an energy-efficient generator and ensure your shower is properly sealed to prevent heat loss.

Flush the generator regularly to remove mineral buildup and maintain a steady steam flow. Most models have a drain valve or button—hit it after each session or as the manufacturer recommends. Skipping this essential maintenance step can trigger safety shut-offs or shorten the lifespan of your steam shower.

It’s not uncommon for homeowners to discover mold in their steam showers. Steam equals humidity, and humidity invites mold. Run the bathroom fan during and after each session, crack the door to allow air circulation, and wipe down the walls frequently. If you spot mold, spray undiluted white vinegar, wait an hour, then scrub—it’s an easy, chemical-free fix.
